Summit 1/16 vxl
Just upgrade or fix as it breaks.
The weak points will reveal themselves!!
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
well I am also going to get a better charger. what charger do you think is best for me?
Summit 1/16 vxl
How much do you have to spend?
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
If you are just using nimhs This charger looks good. http://www.rcplanet.com/ProductDetai...ctCode=TRA2932
very cheap and made by traxxas specifically for their batteries
MERV, Broken Alias.
Ya thats goodit is in my spending rang
thanks, any more stuff I should get?
Summit 1/16 vxl
depends what you want, nimh is real old technology, we were using this 20 years ago. Lipo is much better. Plus that charger is going to take at least 45 minutes to charge the battery and probably not very well. I would look for an Icharger, it will charge anything including your real car battery. Lipos are real cheap at ********* too.
I would get a good nimh charger, not a lipo charger, because I know CheetoBoss can't get lipos, ther're too dangerous. PLEASE DON'T TRY TALK HIM INTO LIPOS! HE CAN'T GET THEM!!I would also get some adjustable tie rods, and some aluminum steering knuckles. Hope this helps!

Is owning 27 RC's too many? No way!
LiPo is no more dangerous than a NiMh.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
UGGHH. Lets please not get in to this topic. My mom thinks lipos are EXTREMLY dangerous, and some how CheetoBoss's mom found out. I know lipos are not dangerous, unless you do somthing stupid or wrong to them, but his parents won't have any of it.LiPo is no more dangerous than a NiMh.Please, lets just respect his parent's wishes, and get back to topic about what upgrades he should get.

I respect the parents wishes...
But posting that LiPo is dangerous without the explanation leads to MORE parents that are misinformed.

Oh, ok. I under stand where you are coming from. Sorry about that.![]()

No hard feelings on my part.
I wish I had the power to delete all the YouTube videos of improperly used LiPo's doing bad things. Then people such as yourself and Cheeto could feel the power of LiPo. It is like adding a supercharger to your RC!
But I digress...
Here is what I did to my MERV and I very rarely walk away broke:
Steel hollow balls (7028x) to reduce slop
3M mushroom tape along battery doors to hold the body on
^^ You will not be able to do that with a Summit
Aluminum knuckles to reduce slop and add strength (I have HR but recommend GPM or GH)
A BB 390 servo due to the stock being known to fry/strip itself
RPM a arms at all four corners (Front-80692, Rear-80602)
Center differential (7014) upgrade to help handle the power of
2200mah 2S 20C LiPo's ran in parallel for ~1 hour run times
23/50 gearing gets me to ~30mph yet keeps temps in check
^^ You will not be able to gear that aggressive due to the tire size of the Summit.
Shimmed front and rear bulkheads... *LINK*
Especially do that last part... extremely cheap preventative procedure.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
I really dont know what a lipos is but I like the charger Braden said i should get.http://www.rcplanet.com/ProductDetai...ctCode=TRA2932 any other stuff or upgrades I should get

In my opinion about lipos I go both ways. For a 1/16 brushless I say no lipos. You can hit 50 with dual nimhs. If you want to go fast and have longer run times just stock up on a lot of nimhs. Plus they are cheaper and you dont have to buy an expensive charger. I go the other way on larger vehicles. Those big beasts need lipos to perform the best. Most one 1/10 scales can only have one battery so it needs to be lipo. This is just my opinion.
MERV, Broken Alias.
not true, lipos are cheap if you get them from the usa warehouse of the place where everyone gets lipos that apparently I can't post here.
Lipos also can be charged pretty quick if you have a good charger where you can burn up NIMH which aren't anywhere near as robust as nicads.
still I would go for a better charger as the charger linked probably won't do the best job with the batteries.
I paid less than $7 a pack for my 2200's LiPo's... where can you get stock packs for less than that??
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
I don't think I will be using lipo's. It sounds like they are hard to take care ofThe tires the summit 1/16 vxl comes with should be good for now. The canyon tires are good for off road and on road right?

Summit 1/16 vxl
hard to take care of? pair them with a decent balance charger and you can have them charged in 20-30 minutes versus 45-1 hour with nimh and if they die sooner, who cares at 10-12 bucks a pack. My lipos have puffed before I've ever killed them from charging at too high an amperage.
Not to mention, rc helis are all flown on lipos and even with monster crashes, they don't blowup and stuff. only time i've seen lipos catch fire is when someone has deliberately shorted the leads to try and sell lipo sacks.
They wear pretty fast on road, but are pretty good off road.
They are hard to beat on the 10th scale Summit, anyway.
LiPo's are not that difficult to take care of.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
The tires should be great on the track we are building. I don't think they will wear to fast on it.
MERV, Broken Alias.
Ya nice tires![]()

,when you go lipo it changes the $ amount you may indure you start to break things. ln stock mod mine has broke
Nothing i do standing back flips it wheelies so much i lowwered the front r hight it flies and is run like a stadium truck
2 or 3 foot flying jumps i dont do 10 hih bash jumps
Run it stock on a good battery charger and learn the trck then see what you would like to upgrade and what needs
upgraded to handle our upgrade...lol
Jim
Some NIMh peak.chargers are dangerous as well
These mini packs 1200 stock batt, charging at 2amps will quite often get hot n shorten the life span
Don't ask how I know...
When pushing these mini 16th scale the NIMh will get hot on grass without taking cooling breaks
Thats cool, I didn't know much about lipo's. They sound awesome nowhard to take care of? pair them with a decent balance charger and you can have them charged in 20-30 minutes versus 45-1 hour with nimh and if they die sooner, who cares at 10-12 bucks a pack. My lipos have puffed before I've ever killed them from charging at too high an amperage.thanks
