My Fingers are sore, and my batteries are smokin!
how heavy is it and can you put the mud flaps off the back?
what holding the front down
looks nice
It probably weighs around 12 oz. or so. It's really light because it's tubing.
As far as the mud flaps go I think it wouldnt be a problem, you could just attach them to the rear body mount bars.

If you could attach the shocks to the back part of the cage it would be even more cool. i need one of those cuz i roll alot![]()
I have monkeys dancing in my pants!!!
Thats what the flat bars in between the two back bars are for.Originally Posted by RC-MXer
The flat bar with holes in it. All you have to do is remove the upper shock screw from the shock tower and bolt it to the bottom hole![]()

ok, let me be the first to say.....how much?
so how much it cost to make? How much would you charge to make one for someone else?

Cool chassis!!! I love it, it looks so scale too.
Thats a good question. The Axial tube chassis go for $230.00 and they aren't HALF of the work these are.Originally Posted by CeeBlock

Like the Adjustable Nerf bars and bumpers that all attach to the cage with body pins.![]()

That looks sweet! Your price would be judged off the time and money in materials. But a reasonable price would be 100 to maybe 150. But that is just my opinion.
Looks sweet bro. You should register in SoCal-RC.com and become a vendor.

Can you get some footage, I'd like to see how it handles. High speed turns and jumping. That rollcage does look good.
Go Patriots!
to be honest, only you can say what your time is worth... so i don't know.... I would'nt pay too much, just because its a $200. truck.... not to belittle your work, because its beautiful....I'm just a very frugal type of guy.
most of the roll cages that you can buy at the hobby shop for the emaxx etc etc go for $50-$75.00..
That is awesome! I made a roll cage buggy RC10 awhile ago and I was thinking about making a cage for the Slash, but I make mine out of brass tubing.
how about a how to on making your own or start selling them on ebayOriginally Posted by OSF

HOW did you weld the tube together?
I started JATO all others are IMITATORS!
Roll cage looks cool .... what kind of body is that?
E-Maxx-Dual KD700HOs, 5s
(Rustler & SLASH too!)
that......is really nice. is it welded or soldered?
Long live Duck Tape!
You've done a great job. I was thinking of doing that too. I like how you cut out the back portion and replaced the stock location for the body mount posts. Very well thought out.
Nitro Sport Pro. 15
VXL BlackSlash w/ DX2.0
It is the special edition Amsoil body.
I'm also curious how you welded it and if it is the hollow tubing you can get at Home Depot? Looks great, when I get my Slash that was on thing I wanted to do but I have nowhere near the skills you do. Can you do a pic with the rear shocks mounted to the cage?
It looks good and well constructed, but I personally would not buy one. Cost would be too much considering how much the truck itself costs, and I personally don't see the need for it. I've had many wrecks, some at ~50mph and I never damaged anything that would have been prevented by having a cage.
Well it is a SCALE CORR truck and the cage just adds to it. I think it looks awesome and a great design. If you want true scale, I think that is about the best you can get right now.Originally Posted by 2IS

Personally it would be for the eye candy of it. It looks really nice. Toss a nice coat of paint, chrome or powder coat on it and you have a very nice looking truck. Nice enough that I'd run it without the shell. Toss a couple panels on it and you just replaced your body.Originally Posted by 2IS

If you are crashing your car @ 50+ MPH and it's not getting banged up I would like to know what your crashing into... PILLOWS????![]()
The cage is not for everyone, just the ones that enjoy having something different from the next guy... being different.![]()

It's just an acquiredskill.

I hear ya, but think about this... Some guy buys a 69 Volkswagen brand new, it only cost him $2,500.00 and he customizes it with all the goodies. How much is the paint worth?Originally Posted by CeeBlock
We all know what the cost of the truck is, My rustler started out a regular Old School Rustler and I did this to it.
So now if I were to SELL it do you think I would get what I paid for it?
BTW its VERY USED![]()

Hey OSF. wasn't that rustler in the readers rides section of Car Action? Man that is sweet. You can tell you put alot of time into your work. Wish I had those skills. The sad part is that you would probably never get paid enough by the average person for your time. CeeBlock brought up a good point about being able to buy one for under 100 bucks. The reason is because they are probably mass produced my machines. Yours are hand built. That takes time. I would love to check that rustler out in person next time I am in the Temecula area. I am planning to visit the ARC track in Vail Lake soon. Anyway good job. Can't wait to see what else you do to the slash.
