New Radio? 2.4 or TQ?

I was looking through the new Nitro Slash picture gallery,
( http://traxxas.com/products/models/n...oslash-gallery ) and by the looks of it, it seems Traxxas re-skinned the old 2.4 into the new TQI shell. Also, in some of the pictures, there is a antena sticking out through the body, but the specs say it has the 2.4, but then what's with the antena sticking throught the body? Anyone got an answer? Just thinking out loud here.

That's an interesting catch, probably wouldn't have noticed it myself.

Is it just me or do most of those pictures appear to be CGI?
Perhaps an oversight?

Product info says TQi so it should only have the little stub of an antenna post.

Ya, I didn't catch it untill I looked at the picture of the new controller and it was missing the steering expo knob. And the fact there is a huge antena sticking out through the body doesn't help either...

Yep looks like a new radio. It says TQ 2.4 not TQi in the product info. It also says the radio part number is 6516 which is not a TQi. Also in the telemetry section it says it requires a TQi radio system for telemetry.

The manual is in the download section. Its a new non programmable 2ch radio and 3ch receiver. The radio only has steering trim and servo reversing. It doesn't even have throttle trim

Looks like a tqi with TQ insides... But even less options...

I really don't care about the radio because my TQi will save enough models for me and if I had to, I could put in a Traxxas 5-channel for less than $30 if I didn't already have it.

Would be interested in running it if they had a spec class.

Like, what am I going to do with all of these 2-channel transmitters anyway?

Here's a question: who uses throttle trim on their nitro? I have yet to. With properly set linkages and carb you shouldn't need to use it.

Sometimes in cooler weather it helps to advance your throttle trim a little to get it started. But after its running it will be too lean. So you set it back to normal. Even with a properly tuned carb and linkages correct it aids in starting a cold motor. But other than that. It doesnt get used very often.

I use it all the time to set a high idle until it warms up.
