I've been stocking up on dehydrated food, dry goods, guns, ammo, water storage for a while. Anyone care to share their ideas/plans/storage area?

Is anyone staying home from work 12/21?

now what is all this about? what is going on on 12/21? who said it something is going to happen this time? seems like a few times a year people are saying its going to end the world or something bad is going to happen.

I always have food on hand for a few weeks and our place runs on solar power. I have a can of propane for a grill already and plenty of charcoal lol if i need it.

I keep a case of 7.62X39 sealed and stored... its just there if I ever need it. And I always make sure i have a few hundred rounds for each of my guns. If I get below a few hundred, I stock up. Im never at 0... just incase I had to leave in a hurry. I also make sure I have at least one gun my wife can shoot (currently my 10/22 nomad) comfortably.

We live on a lake so waters not a problem and the shelves are stocked with food... we also live a long way from a big city so if anything ever were to happen (plus were in canada... so whats really going to happen here... the beavers are going to stampede or somethign?) it probably wouldnt immediately effect us... we'd have a few days. We have our own private 1000 litre fuel tank for our business and its always full and we have at least 5 generators laying around. So, were pretty setup. But im the only one in the family that keep ammo on hand.

December 21st 2012 is the longest day of the year and also the winter solstice The ancient my'ans predicted that on dec 21st the world will end. The myans believed at the end of every uneversal cycle (when the calendar ends) the earth is demolished and re-created. Last calendar was created a couple thousand years ago and it ends on the 21st..

I bought my son a Mosin Nagant and two 440 round sealed cases of ammo for Christmas. I have had one for a few years and they're a reliable rifle that needs a good recoil pad.

At my local Wally Mart yesterday they sold 5 Ruger 10/22 in a single day, so I had to drive to the next town to get one. Guys around here are stocking up on guns and ammo like crazy, and two guys I bowl with aren't leaving the house from December 16th through the end of the year just in case... they took vacation from work.

People have been saying all kinds of stuff year after year for century's now and the world is still here. Think about why stock up on food, ammo, water, gas, generators and all that if the world does come to an end and every body dies what use is that stuff then? Your not taking it with when you die or the planet blows up right? I say why all the stress if you truly believe its the end why have all the headache, stress, worry etc? Spend time with family during that time I say with loved ones that's what I am going to do instead of packing stuff up that is us less. My wife and I are going to be together.

So I assume the forum will be down and off during and after that day as well? To all on here see you guys after this mess if not then it was nice to get to know the awesome people here for the time I've been here. God Bless everyone.

Actually, Dec. 21st is the shortest day of the year (daylight), which will be exactly 9h 54m 09s here.

Dec. 21st is also my wife's birthday, so the 3 of us will be at Disneyland for the apocalypse.

I figure if worse comes to worse, we'll head for Pirates of the Caribbean. Underground, plenty of water, direct access to the Blue Bayou restaurant (Monte Cristo sanwiches!), swords, eye patches and all the gold I can count.

Hm 12/21, no the world's not going to end. What actually will happen is that the universe will begin the cycle it has been carrying for the past X years, again. Sure there may be changes, but not the end of the world. This what I tell people - if the world ends on the 21 I'll give you all my life savings, house cars, etc.
But not to clog up this thread lol.

I just have guns and ammo, a small lake, 74 acres of woods around the house, nothing much else haha.

"Prepping" is just plain good sense as most in FL(& now NJ) knows, it never hurts to be prepared for the In Case, as you never know when Ma Nature is going to mess things up & leave ya hangin on you own!

Yeah I have to agree about the US debt . I'm waiting to seen whats going to happen with our social security checks I hope they don't cur more from it California cut us 215 already and we don't even get half of what we are suppose to get from the federal portion . we want to buy a house next year but with that lluming over in have to wait and see in hope this wacky govt gets their heads on straight.
I like being ready with extra food and supplies in case we loose our house lol.

Hasn't anyone learned from "The Walking Dead" gunshots just attract more trouble! I will get supplies tomorrow, lol! No I won't never mind. We did the whole prep for hurricanes the year we got hit by three of them. But truth be told we only had to drive 20 minutes to get to an open store with plenty of food and water. If we lived closer to the coast we would prepare a bit more, but history has shown it really isn't as necessary as some would make it out to be. We always keep water in the house and some canned foods, but that is just the stuff we always have for lunches and what not.
