My Summit is now running a full MErv suspension. I also have Traxxas CVD's and a rear differential lock. Ran fine with stock power cells. Went to LiPo. Different animal all together. So, with that being said. Today I broke an output drive cup. Can I purchase these individually? or, do I have to purchase a new set of CVD's just for the cups? Needless to say, the locker is coming out.

Locking the diff is rarely a good idea
Have you shimmed your diffs?
No. I've had the truck for 2 years. Never had any ring and pinion issues.

That's because you have been running nimh!
I'll check the mesh when I replace the drive cup. It will be going back to an open diff as well.

Only real way to check it is by shimming. Unless its real loose
It's been apart quite a few times. Never felt loose.

I have seen a tight feeling diff take 3 shims. It is hard to see or feel the slop when there is nothing pushing on the bulkheads to flex them. This flex is not really seen unless there is power fed to the gear set or when you stick a shim or three in there and realize the carrier still spins quite freely.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
My lhs had the cups in stock. No gears or shims. I will have to order those. Hopefully my driveline won't need much more.

Just placed my order for shims and the internal gear set. I guess it's back to a teflon tape filled rear end or silly putty. Not a true locker how I like. It will give enough not to wind up breaking axles and cups.

Have you tried 100k diff oil? Twice as thick as most use
I've had several oils in the diff. Even auto 80W90. I've found the teflon tape or silly putty works the best for me. I couldn't wait this evening and changed the cup out. I've gotten pretty good at diff service. I have the cup changed, wheels on in 30 minutes.

80w90 is thinner than 100wt.

This time out I tamed down my driving style a bit. Still a wheelie monster. This thing would probably be useless or just a complete handful off road on 3S. The 55T spur isn't helping the matter.

I went out today. Went against best wishes and had a rear axle fly out. Lucky I found the axle, but without the drive and cross pins. Are those sold individually?
