I need to know the basics of nitro
How does it work?
Pretty much how do you do everything..
Also best truck for me?
I'm thinking jato 3.3

The hardest part is learning how to tune the motor properly, read a lot, watch the videos on youtube, also traxxas will provide a DVD with the basics. It is kind of hard at the beginning so, you will need lots of patience until you mastered it. Best truck depends where do you plan to run, if you want to go off road I suggest a 4wd like tmaxx or revo, jato is fun for speed runs, they all have the same motor so the basics apply to all.

Sure,,, first of all, reading the owners manual especially the part about the carb and tuning for performance is helpful, but I find it needs a little help. So a few years ago before I was a Moderator I wrote up some helpful tips for tuning your Nitro...
Listen, tuning is the key for a long engine life and good performance, it is not that easy, but if you read the sticky in the FAQ as well as your manual and the tuning card... IF YOU DO NOT TUNE YOUR ENGINE RIGHT IT WILL LIVE A SHORT LIFE... Most everyone new to nitro, their first engine does not last as long as their second or after they rebuild there's. Just because of the time it took to learn to tune properly...
If you take it slow, and follow this info,,,, tune in very small increments, tune only with a 1/2 a tank of fuel an no more. Have a temp gauge handy to prevent you from running under 200 or over 270 F. you'll be fine...
Enjoy the read.

Oh, and pay attention the tuning your LSN.... many overlook it and you will never get it tuned right if you don't...

Does a nitrous injector help?
What about a supercharger?
Does it shorten engine life?

How much fuel do you guys go through and how often do you run it
It the jato a good starter?
My cousins have nitros and they can break it in with me

Jato is probably too hard for a starter imho.
I bought a tmaxx new and also a nitro stampede new. I wish I bought the stampede first.
My vote would be for a Npede, super easy to tune and
Lots of fun
Because it's a street demon that goes 100 kmh
i'll tell you what i did, i bought a old 2.5 tmaxx and ripped it completely apart and cleaned everything, ripped the motor apart and lubed everything and re-assembled it to give me the understanding of how everything on the truck worked. then in between while i was working on the truck i read everything i could find about nitro. that helped me out a lot. i bought a jato 3.3 after i had my tmaxx for awhile and i wouldnt suggest that truck for you as a starter. it is really hard to work on if anything goes wrong. at least with the tmaxx the setup is a little more straight forward. you can get a used tmaxx probably from someone on craigslist around your area for $150. and save up for a better truck while you get use to messing with the old tmaxx and tuning it and practicing tuning it and not having to worry about messing the brand new motor up if you buy new right off the bat. let us know what you decide and ask us any questions you have while your reading through the manuals. there is a video on youtube that is the traxxas break in video and the tuning video that shows you step by step on how to break in your nitro engine and how to tune it.
EMBE
Jato 3.3
T-Maxx 2.5
Just the general build of the car. Something like a TMaxx is better for a starter, as it's a larger vehicle, with less clutter. With the Jato, you generally have to pull half the car apart to replace one thing.
The brakes require a fair bit of knowledge to be able to even adjust them a little, without affecting the throttle.
The two speed transmission requires tuning for half decent performance. This includes the centri clutch, and the slipper clutch.
It's a rear wheel drive. They're very quick, and hard to drive. Where as a four wheel drive has far better controlm but less speed.
All I can think of off the top of my head.
Jato is complex and very fast. I've rebuilt mine 4 times because of various parts failing / breaking. And yes, you have to disassemble 3/4 of the car to replace 1 part. Don't let that discourage you though. They're a great nitro vehicle and with proper maintenance the jato will run like a champ. Any nitro is a large investment. Several hundred dollars plus fuel, glo plugs etc. do your research and watch videos and determine what will suit your needs
Beatings will continue until compliance is gained
uh oh.... that didn't sound good
Ummmm...
What about a slayer??
Any thoughts on it?
Slash 2wd, Slash 4x4, 30th digger, Rustler VXL
The Slayer guys can help you on that one. I hated mine so I converted it to a Revo. A good learning car for me was a nitro rustler/nitro sport. Easy to repair and cheap. The nitro sport has the old trusty pro engine. Super reliable, easy to tune. I couldnt kill mine. It only went around 30-35mph but fast enough to keep me interested. Ive had 4 Jatos. They are a little harder to wrench on but still a good car.
One shot.....One kill, no exceptions
Is the revo fun?
I saw on YouTube some guy called absmods
Can I make a revo like that and just switch the tires for dirt racing
Thins will mainly be used on my cousins track

Patience is key when starting out, small adjustments and you'll have a blast! Good luck
