Cheap or free mods for the summit

I know you guys know some good mods! Fill me in without me having to spend hours searching on the forum! Any ideas are greatly appreciated, anything to make it better without having to order parts would be great, BUT I'm not opposed to buying some if its a good enough suggestion! Lol

I have two good lipo's and a 18v black and decker skil saw motor on it, and swapped the springs around. Definitely better like that! Need some for the front now though. And the sammich mod is a really good idea! Hope the wife doesn't realize I took one of her Tupperware bowls! Bet I can paint it and she'll never know lol. Rizz0d, how did you secure it to the chassis?

Anybody got any other free improvements? The summit is a ridiculous machine as it is, but there has to be something I can do to it, working with what is already here

Lower the body!! Trim the body mounts and then trim the body where it touches the bumper mounts. This helps lower your COG.

I also de-chromed the wheels and left off the beadlock rings. I put short SS hexes in the holes to dress them up a bit. It's not really a performance mod per se, but the sidewalls do seem to flex a little better now when traversing rocks and stuff, but that is most likely from use.

Milk jug stick stoppers on the leading edges of the a-arms are nice too

Clear poly skid plates siliconed to the bottom of the a-arms are nice and easily removable as well. While not as good as the name brand, they're much cheaper

Will be doing the infamous Tupperware mod! Lol and too Mayberry kid, I already have the body lowered, it definitely helps! I even dremeled the front bumper mount to drop the bumper down so it looks right, used some spare shock pivots to take up the space on the top side, and keep everything nice and tight. I have axial 8 spoke beadlocks in black, and love the blacked out look. Traxxas should offer the geodes in black from the factory

these are some i used...


also I picked up some shock covers from ebay at very reasonable price - not waterproof but keeps the pebbles and grass out of the shocks. search for kalisch shock covers.

btw good idea on the sandwich box!

i used 7 or 8 oz per wheel.not so good for jumping or bashing.the whole gravity thing..lol

Cool I have some axial beadlocks so I may wrap some solder around the inside. How do you like your rockcrushers? And do your servos like them? Lol

I've been single hi torque for some time now.crusher will eat the stockers for breakfast.i personally do not recommend the crushers for anything but looks and trail running.i rarely run them.they are not even mounted at the moment.

Found something the crushers are excellent at.....taking up space may get around to carving up the lugs a bit to make them more aggressive

main reason i did this was because when i'd go mudding or playing in the snow, the mud or snow would get so packed into this area that it would prevent the transmission and diff locker linkages from working. pretty frustrating coming out of the woods onto pavement with a truck stuck in low gear with both diffs locked.

Balancing your wheels will add some top speed, stability, and traction. There are threads here on how to do it as well as youtube videos on how to do it.
