My school got closed for an inch of snow

I can't believe it but my school got a 2 hour delay yesterday because of less than 1 inch of snow. I was happy about it though, lol. And now today we got out of school 2 hours early (12:05) because of the 1 inch of snow that is supposed to come at 2... Again, I am very excited, but really? We are wimps here in VA!

Even here in Buffalo, schools can close for a lousy 6 inches. When I was a kid, there were snowstorms with three feet that didn't close school. And yes, I had to walk through it...uphill, both ways!

We're becoming sissified as a society. But that's for another thread!

Although i will say in VA i can certainly guess you dont have the infrastructure to handle snow accumulation and when the gen pop is for the most part foreign to snow i can see where you are coming from.

Vancouver BC can shut down for snowfall too. And Toronto Ontario is the same way. Wusses... lol :P

I got a call last night saying that we were going to be let out early (11:30) because of the speculation of freezing rain... It didn't start until about 330 and my high school gets out at 250, Good ole North Carolina!!

Yeah here in UT we had freezing rain for the first time in over 40 years! It was raining while I was at school and the principal came on the over com and said be careful out side it's really icy, and use your friends for support if you do start to fall. I thought it was pretty funny. It sucked though. There was a half inch of ice everywhere. Cleaning snow off cars is bad enough but a half inch of ice, just not fun.

(my school) since we need to get home the same time as everyone else( our school is a school that takes ppl from 5 counties so some ppl live 2 hours away ) who gets an early release they release us at 10:50 so we are only in school for 2 hours and 20 min which is a 4 hour early release, and i drove today because I thought we would get early so i got home early. They announced it right after i finished my physics midterm. it was a nice birthday present

Haha wow, here in Manitoba Canada we had 6 inches 5 buses with jelled fuel, every school division was closed except for mine. 2 years ago we had all the highways/roads closed in the area and the buses still drove on them..

Schools where I live were shut down a couple years ago for a week because of EXTREMELY dense smoke from a wildfire about ten miles away.

Toronto is terrible
When you drive through it in snow it takes forever!!
I hate big city's..

Well i live in aussie in warick QLD, So no snow but we are meant to be starting the new year tomorrow.
We go to toowoomba for school but the whole place is flooded here so we aint goin nowhere.

schools here closed cause it was 6 degrees with minus 15 windchill.... told the boy no to count on it closing came home and he said you was wrong I told him thats cause schools are a bunch of (insert word for whimps) these days lol

They only cancel school here if the roads are too dangerous to drive on. I've never seen that happen and I have had to use 4wd to get to school.
