OK...I plug a freshly charged battery in...hit the power button on the ESC and get this...
...then nothing...it just turns itself off.
Anyone know what the issue is?

What is "this" when you hit the power button on the ESC? I don't see anything.
I posted a video of what its doing.
The esc shows a green light then immediately turns red then turns off. the rx has a red light at this time.
Then the esc blinks red and it shuts down.

Try unplugging your servo and see if it works fine. If it does your servo is fried. I know it sounds crazy, but the servo can make the ESC do some strange things.
BTW. The video link didn't show up.
Hmm, What battery are you using!!!!
thats weird...looking at the thread here...i can see the video.
Here's the link...

I'll try disconnecting the servo later.
I know this has been talked about before...but to keep me from having to search...
If the servo is bad...
Would I be better off going with one Bluebird 390...or 2 factory servos?
(might try to get my LHS to replace one under warranty...they are pretty good about stuff like that...and could buy a second to match)

Go with one bluebird i heard goood thing about that..
also is your Esc in nimh or lipo Mode?
how long have you had that battery?
Try it on the stock nimh see if it still does it??
Are you nice to It!
Plug in your Esc to your servo port and try it.... plug the servo out! hold it off the ground too so it doesn't shoot of like a rocket!
TRY those come back and tell me the good Results okay![]()
ESC is in the correct mode.
The battery packs and car are less than 3 weeks old.
I tried it with both Lipos and with the stock nimh with the same results.
Am I nice to it? Heck no...It's a Traxxas..not a New Bright.
I'll do some search and destroy investigations tomorrow.
My buddy is wanting us to play Black Ops 2 tonight so I'm not messing with it now.

Thats exactly what happened to mine when the servo went up
No Limit RC of Maryland
Well...no dice.
Disconnected the servo from the rx...and the esc is still blinking the same code then shutting down.
Disconnected the esc from the rx...same thing.
Next step...I'm about to call Traxxas.
*...well looks like I have to wait until Monday morning to call them.
Good thing is...my 30 day warranty doesn't expire until Feb 7th.

Is there a factory reset button on the esc?

No reset button for the ESC.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
Ok thanks.
Traxxas tech support it is then.

Same thing happened to me a few days ago.
Tested with all the batteries I have and it's the same thing. 2s and 3s lipo. It is in lipo mode. But if I put it in nimh mode it does not switch off but it is works poorly or not at all.
So if anyone knows the problem so I would also be happy
Update...Talked to Traxxas and they told me to send the chassis/electronics in.
I removed the body/body posts/bumpers/tires&wheels.
I have it boxed up and will be sending it to them on Monday.
Hopefully the turn around time won't take too long.
I'm missing getting to play with it already.

Did they said something about what it could be?
We've pretty much determined that it has to be an ESC issue...since the ESC still does the same thing...even when unplugged from the RX

All right. Sadly then I probably take and make my hobby shop a cal and see what they have to say. Mine is five months old so 'll see how it goes
They had you send the chassis in also that seems odd with minee i just sent the esc in id call again and try to save some cash on shipping
It will still be under $10 to ship so i'm not that worried about it.
