I've beaten the snot out of my Slash's stock rims and haven't had a problem. Cartwheels on concrete, running into curbs, etc. If it's good enough for extreme bashing, I would have to think it would suffice for racing.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here; I have no intention of changing my stock wheels when I start racing, unless it's recommended...

On my traxxas trucks I run pro-line bead lock rims as I hate gluing tires.... Also, the little bit more weight keeps you on the ground. And they will take a very good beating. And they never come unglued and tire changes are easy.

+1 on proline beadlocks. they sell the Split Six for bashing and the Epic for racing. I personally have the split sixes and they are really nice. No experience with the epics but they are very similar.

I think Proline stopped making them, but you should be able to find them on ebay, I run both split six and split six beadlocks and love them both, but if you get beadlocks, make sure you have a quality set of hex wrenchs, I learned the hard way.

EDIT: I can only find 2.2's on ebay, not 2.2/3.0's.
