I would go for the 3800kv but that esc on any thing over 2s will get very hot look at the sct race pro with 3800kv and stock gearing but your best bet will the mamba max pro sct with 2400kv it will not over heat and people say its the don dude.Plus welcome to the forums......peace

So would the mamba max pro sct with the 1410 3800kv motor work on 3s or would it have the same heat issue as the stock vxl. I know the 1415 24ookv is great but i wanted a motor that would fit without having to mod the chassis.

ADVANCED 1:10 SHORT COURSE COMBO INCL. TENSHOCK SC401 V2+HOBBYWING WATTERPROOF SC8 120A+HOBBYWING 2 IN 1 PROGRAM BOX (FREE SHIPPING) $ 140.00. The 3800kv would be a good motor to go with, it has a 5mm shaft, so a 11t pinion is the smallest one made. Best bang for the buck waterproof system on the market. JMHO

+1 I have the tenshock 4 pole sc411 3500kv 550 can and hobbywing pro sct 120a esc you can gear it higher than the castle but you will need very good batteries because its amp hungry.Just so you know i am running 17t pinion and 54t spur and i use 2s and 3s and temps never go over 150f....peace Go for the 3400kv v2

Just a note, the sv3 version handles 3S much better than the sv2 version did. That thing heated up just running its own LED. If you aren't running anything more than 3S, then the sidewinder sv3 is a decent option.

The thing that throws a red flag for me is, on Castle's web site. They don't offer a 3800 in their SV3 combos, it starts at 4600 and up. That tells me its meant for more of a 2wd. Not saying it cant survive a 10 min A-main at the track, but what about a 20 min bash session.

That's interesting. I don't know why, especially since they sold an sv2/3800 combo.

Castle's claim is that the sv3 has "40% more power". A guy I know has one on a 3800 (he changed from the sv2). He runs it on 3S a lot now with stock gearing. Otherwise I'd say stay away.

I might email castle about them not having that combo. You got me curious.

I did some pricing on CC combos.

    SV3-4600=111.00

    SV3-3800=190.00 (non combo)

    MMP-3800=222.00

I understand your friends situation with the SV-2, all good.

Now if the SV3 can handle a 3800, as you stated, even with a 3s, now a statement that should be answered by CC.

If they could offer a SV3 3800 combo for 150.00 ish. I would consider that a fair price.

Yes but a hobbywing sc8 esc and a tenshock v2 3800kv combo will run circles round the castle mmp 3800kv setup they have been tested and the tenshock kicks out 2000w of power....peace plus save about $80

The tenshock will need some dremel work but it will only take a minute or two.the castle will go in with no troubles both are awesome motors but now i have had my tenshock for 7 months now i would not swap it for anything else because its more than fast enough for me and the torque is mental and on 3s its almost uncontrollable but in a good wayhope that helps if you need any more info just pm me dude.....peace
