Looks good. Mine is sent off at the moment getting R&D done to it. I don't know if it'll happen but I plan touching near 100 MPH mark soon with it. Different motor & battery, wheeliebar, other odds & ends.
Haven't got it back yet!
Its a handful stock with a 3S - it'll be insane up near 100mph!. Which pinion are you going with to get the most speed out of it?
PHOENIX Bandit,Summit,Funny Car,Darkrayne Rustler
I have already been over 100mph with mine...the factory body wont work though....(hint hint)......23t pinion on 3s2p .....its actually quite stable once you get over 60mph....downforce keeps it planted. ET is the real record to beat!...Im still the fastest as far as i know with 2.300 seconds in the 132ft

What gearing are you at for 132ft?
14t(factory) on 3s

What few vids I've seen of these they seem to have a tough time with the launch.... Seems tough to keep them straight.
If I had one of those I'd try a steering gyro to assist in keeping it straight on the launch... Just a thought....
In one of your pics on the other thread you showed some sticky stuff used to assists with traction, reminds me or some stuff we used to use in the 60's for slot car drag racing. We use to pump 24 vdc into a 3 volt brushed motor.. Good speeds but destroyed a lot of motors. We use to hand wind the armatures.

I tried using my GY401 gyro already but the servo cant keep up....so you will need a VERY high speed servo to work well using a gyro....otherwise it just twitches into an oscillation as it over-corrects.
....the sticky stuff in the pics is VHT trackbite.![]()

I use this gyro with great results. You can adjust the sensitivity. The servo does need to be of a digital type to work with this gyro.
I just use the stock servo's that come with my 2wd Slashes and Jato.
No twitching like you describe with the one you tried.

yea....I think you arent noticing that the funny car servo is a micro servo and not digital.....lol...
...The Futaba GY401 is one of the BEST gyros in the world...it has adjustable sensitivity...heading hold... and other great features...but without a FAST digital servo it wont do its job....just the nature of the game....I will eventually put in a highspeed digital servo and try again.

The Futaba GY401 is a fine gyro for helo use, but was not designed for rc cars. Not sure but that may be an issue. I did see that the specs say it will work on a digital or analog servo with the selector sw.
The gyro I use is designed for rc cars and is a very easy install. I originally tried a helicopter gyro with limited success/results.
Good luck with your new servo when you get it installed.... And by all means Jack, keep us posted on your results.
And again, nice ET's and speeds... Keep videos coming too!!!!

thanks....and just for your info....Gyros for Heli work exactly the same as gyros for cars....but some models/brands are higher quality and offer more sensitivity/features such as heading hold etc.....in this case maybe the cheaper less sensitive units use non digital servos but in my opinion this doesnt translate to the best stability in a straight line...maybe for "drifting" or bashing....but in drag racing the tiniest corrections have the biggest effect on the cars stability at speed.

We've been doing alot of R&D lately with a group of guys. We put up our best ET's this Saturday going 2.001 @ 60.54 mph and then went 2.007 @ 58.43 mph. Here's a pic of the time slips to show a few passes [IMG][/IMG]

I am running the futaba gy401 in both my wife's car and also my own, with stock servo with excellent results we run on a 132' track with a juice syrup coating and on a 2 cell running 2.71 at 49 mph. My hardest thing is keeping front end down in order to control car. Our next race is in June will post time slips then.
Can you guys post pics as I am new to this and would like to see what the parts look like?
Just traded for one of these. 2wd slash that I had 100$ in. I can't control. I have used stick on weights (not racing) have all links measured and perfect. I widened my 2wd lcg slash front and rear with rpm rustler a arms fabbed my own toe links....WHAT CAN I DO TO GO STRAIGHT!? Help!
I use spectrum avc in mine for transmitter and receiver. So much better stability in those high runs and windy days.

I've run a 2.126 in 132 feet on 3s.
Hey guys, check out www.dragtrac.com for some of the quickest Traxxas Funny Car E.t's EVER! All are done on Stock cars with Traxxas Funny car rubber tires. 2.126 with a 3s and 2.374 with a 2s
2.110 Scott Davis RCDRL Texas league. and he backed it up within 1%.
2.110 S. Davis RCDRL Texas league. and he backed it up within 1%. I think Jeepn knows this already lol
I need to see some video and pix.
Be nice to keep this thread going.
We have been 1.9 @76 MPH with a stock car, foam tires, 3s battery, and grape soda in a church parking lot. This was on a DTS and backed up.
I purchased a really nice condition green motored Trx Dragster last year. I bought it cause I thought they were discontinued and planned on it being a shelf queen.
I was gonna try it out but heard they’re squirrelly as heck at speed. Any truth to that?
Like said, mines in perfect shape and the seller kept carrying on about it having the green motor?
I imagine I need to try and buy a “used” used one and send it?
Any body add weight to control this thing on launch
Also are you guys adjusting wheelie bar from stock ?
