Hi new on the forum,
I have the old E-Maxx 3906 that I haven't used in about 4 years. I just brought it out of the
basement and cleaned the engine with engine cleaner and WD-40'd the bearings around the wheels. I have the old Venom 3000 NiMh 7.2's which work but.... only for 7-8 minutes and with probably 70% of the Titans550 potential. I am looking for ways to make this old beauty faster/run longer without a whole brushless
overhaul. I am willing to spend about $150 on it.
Any input would be much appreciated.
-Thanks!!
Welcome to the forums! The quickest way to improve your E-Maxx would be to get some lipo batteries, but if you went lipo, it would kill the stock brushed motors really fast. The other way would be to upgrade the motor, to something like the DeWalt 14.4 motor. That way it would still be water proof, and it would give you more power and speed for only about $30. Hope this helps!

Manager at LHS ~7 Years. I've seen some stuff lol
Sweet thank you very much! I was considering a brushless but I don't know if my transmission could handle the torque![]()
It cannot.
Go with the DeWALT and conservative gearing... I put a DeWALT in my buddies newer eMaxx and he is thrilled!
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
What is the part number for Dewalt motor? Thanks.
Check this out - http://www.kershawdesigns.com/Products-E-maxx.htm. I have there Single DeWalt for my new e-maxx and I am tickled pink
I have a Tenshock BL motor in my Hyper Short Course Truck and it's pretty fast. I think if you want long lasting reliable speeds then go BL.
In My E Maxx I have a 14.4 DeWalt. It's not a fast rocket but man does it have some power and torque!! I think the DeWalt is an all around great basher motor.
It will not be reliable going brushless... not without dumping enough money into it to basically have a newer Maxx. His drive train is not up to the task!
Here are the part numbers I used... direct from my notes:
DeWALT motor and brushes 396505-21/603754-01
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
I'd upgrade the idlers and fleEbay for diffs and shafts. They're pretty weak just on the titans.
