Help!

I used to race RC cars years ago. I recently bought two new identical Traxxas Slash trucks for me and my son. That is what they race at our local hobby shop. We have played with them a few times trying to get used to them. My problem is, my son's is noticeably faster than mine. I have changed motors and gear ratios. And he blows me away. Could it be my speed control or something I am missing?

Welcome to the forums! Are they VXL, or brushed? If they're brushed, it could be just the motors. Depending on how the motors were broken in/used, it effects how the motor performs. No two brushed motors are even the same. If your Slash's are brushless, then I have no idea. Hope this helps!

They are brushed, broke in very similar. As I said I am not new to RCs just a bit rusty. I know no two motors are the same and I thought maybe I just got a bad one. But my new motor isn't any better. They don't even sound the same! His winds out mine don't. I think it might be the speed control.

Love Traxxas RCs, but their stock brushed motors are just good enough to get you going and are prone to failure.

No, I tried that too. But it's almost that noticeable!

I would try swapping the motors. If nothing changes, you can rule that out.

are you hitting full throttle on the esc ?

Have u tried to re calibrate your speed control? It may be out of adjustment. Make sure your trim knob is at 0 and try the 50/50 70/30 switch many they got moved. Since u already tried a new motor many try the esc out of your other one

I would try swapping the motors. If nothing changes, you can rule that out.

I'd recalibrate first. If that doesn't work, then try what wolf suggests and you can rule out the motor and get it figured out.

Since he already put a new motor in it he can already rule that out. Try to recalbrating first. If that still does not work swap the esc's. That would let you know if you have bearings slowly dieing on your's.

My truck was dragging bad yesterday.
Then it started hooking to the right,found two new,but bad wheel bearings.
They can make a huge difference in performance.
And as mentioned above,if your transmitter end points arent set right that can cause the same issue.
But I would check all your bearings.Wheels and transmission.
Sooner or later something between the two trucks will show its colors.
