    local park

So I was searching around on Google Maps and it turns out the local park by my work has a little RC track. From the website it says it has "picnic tables, grass fields, BBQ, playground, remote control track..."

I was like, what the... a remote control track?!?!?

I took my little Traxxas servo-powered buggy out there to check it out. Has 2 little tracks, one kind of a smooth flat section, and one bumpy dirt track.

Looks like I'll be spending my coffee breaks outdoors!

    Nice!
Read about that in your "Hornet at the park" blog entry.
I wish I had a local park that had something like that.

    Have fun!

Definitely cool. I have to look for places to run. Mostly construction sites. I've been ran off by the site security guard lol. I would definitely take advantage of a place like that!

That's great! I lucked out with the same kinda deal. A hobby shop moved locations a few years ago (eventually closed), but the original track is still there, about 10 minutes from work. My lunch break is a lot more fun now!

I'm thinking of getting a dedicated RC car for this track. My Hornet just can't handle the rough stuff well enough, either convert my Slash 4x4 to a track basher, or maybe get a Rustler.

This is at Fairwood Park in Sunnyvale, CA. I just typed "RC track" into Google Maps and Yelp.

(Grumbling) Lucky sun of a... Anyway, I think a Rustler would be perfect for that type of terrain, or a Slash 4x4, you will never regret that purchase. Also, maybe you could do some track cleaning, looks like it might benefit from that. Have fun!

I missed out on an eBay Rustler roller, but I'm probably going to convert my Slash to a bashing truck for this place. I definitely should bring a broom next time, but it's surprisingly in decent shape -- somebody must sweep it periodically.

Slasher-Basher conversion done. I haven't really been driving my Slash much, because honestly I enjoy driving my other cars more on the local indoor clay track.

Well this little outdoor track has got my interest piqued again, so I threw on some Proline Calibers and threw it out there and it performed really well. My center diff blew out and my spur and pinion stripped so I had to cut it short. Gonna go back to a slipper and maybe a waterproof servo and go full basher.

I forgot how fun bashing is!

I ran into the gentleman today who built the track. Nice guy, he's been working on it for 4 years, and he sweeps it regularly.

Did some testing, and my indoor clay setup definitely does not work at this track. Dropped spring rate to SCTE blue front and SCTE green rear, and it's close, still maybe a little oversprung. Over-damped as well, gonna drop to 27.5w 1.5 piston front and 25w 1.5 piston rear. Also need to add a few more mm of ride height.

Pro-line Calibers work well in really loose stuff, like a BMX park or a baseball diamond, but this is too hard-packed and clean. Going to try AKA Wishbones, which is the next step down in pins, but I really should get a set of dedicated hard-packed tires, like Proline Holeshots.

It's been fun converting my Slash into an outdoor track basher.

That's a cool track but a little flat. If anyone's in SoCal, Los Angeles/Long Beach area, let me know! I got this nice track set up.

It's actually a public Dirt Bike Track in Los Angeles, CA.
I heard there used to be Chinese Pot Shop 4 years ago but there was landslide and now it's been my favorite RC track for a while.
