I have an E-revo 1/16 with a brushless motor and the velineon VXL 3M. It worked perfect and then all of a sudden it just stopped working!!! The steering still works but the ESC will not turn on at all (no lights at all)... I'm running 1 7.2V NiMH battery in it, what could be the problem????? Any help is appreciated!!!

I have seen "working" servos do this... I would still unplug and check.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
+1, I would try unplugging the servo...![]()
Is owning 27 RC's too many? No way!
Nope. servo is not the problem.... I have tried switching where they are plugged in and everything. Also to clarify when I push the button to turn on the car it turns on the servo only. To turn the car off I have to unplug the battery.

What happens when you unplug the motor out from ESC?
You can plug ESC to the receiver on the serwo chanel and steer with the throttle. This could help eliminate motor malfunction. If the steering works, then at least some part of ESC is OK and reduces voltage to 6V to feed receiver and servo.
Maybe your esc is in the lipo stand. I have that problem with my slash 4x4 vxl when the battery is almost empty.
Yeah I have swithched the ports and have used the throttle to steer. Both ways though the esc light or power to the motor do not work. Any things I should try?

Anything else I should try?

Ok so I have called traxxas twice now and both times they say it is internally defective. They say if I want it fixed then I must send it in along with 40 dollars. If it is defective then why should I have to pay???? Think I should send it in or what would be your suggestions? Any thoughts on what traxxas has said?
MERV, Broken Alias.
It depends... You can get a brand new one $16 more... If you did send it into Traxxas you would have to wait for about a month for it to get to them and back. Just my .02 cents, I would get a new one.Ok so I have called traxxas twice now and both times they say it is internally defective. 25 amps is no where near enough... and a total waste of money. Look for 60 amps or more if you want the ESC to last.
Traxxas warranty only lasts so long (30 days) and only for the original owner. Beyond that, it is up to them to decide to repair or replace for free or for a fee.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
Ya scracth that one. I found a sweet 60 amp one with a fan for 30 dollars. But I think that it is banned from this site

What ever ESC you buy, if it has a program card; get that too.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
Not to sound dumb but what is a program card? Does it just tell you how to program it? Wouldn't they include that in the instructions?
MERV, Broken Alias.
So is it just a card that says how to do it or do you plug it in?
MERV, Broken Alias.
You plug it into the ESC and use the card to make changes. Depending on the ESC some actually plug into your laptop and you can make changes with it. An example of the card would be a Castle Field Link. Castle Link allows you to make changes with your laptop.
Just would like to share this video. It is the EXACT problem that I am having...... Any thoughts???http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kpOKNRNZ_WU

Send it in to Traxxas or buy a replacement/upgrade... ESC is probably shot.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
Ok, The new esc I was looking at turns out to be not very good. Does anyone know of a Cheap esc that is still good? Or do you think my best option is to just send it in for 40 bucks and get it replaced?
MERV, Broken Alias.
I'd upgrade... the 3M is not known for its strength.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
I'd replace it with a Sidewinder 3. About the same money as replacing the VXL-3m...and is a much better ESC.
