I started racing when I was your age...

    Sand drags with this:

It could pull down a quarter in less than 10 when we could get it to hook.
Sand drags are 300'... we beat built banshees without breaking a sweat.
Not stock... or anywhere near it. 1,200 horse bored over 429 SCJ, naturally aspirated, no nitrous, just horse power.

    I have taken this:

But was shut down on my last pass... 12.8 in a quarter.
Stock other than long tube headers, X pipe, and a cold air intake.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

It's been many years but I had a 68 Camaro and a Kawasaki Z1-R I used to race at the drag strip.

I've got a 1986 Buick T-type Regal that I'm working on. Hoping to have it in the low 11s when I get it to the track.

I know...I know...a BUICK?? Trust me and do a google search for Grand Nationals and T-types and you'll see why I like them!

Yes. I know it's not a good idea and not safe. But nearest track is a long ways away. I've been side by side with a guy from a red light to 110mph. But have payed big consequences. Ticket for 96mph in a 40mph zone. You think I would have learned my lesson but I keep doing it.....

I'll soon start going out to the track where I can be safe and legal.

Yes, been drag racing since I was 22. I'm 45 now and only stopped because all the tracks are closed.
When we raced a full series, I was track champion twice. I miss it a lot.

I used to race but that was two wives and three children ago[about thirty-three years or so].

I started out with a '69 Dart with a 318 built to 340 specs, running low sixteens on street tires[on a good day] and worked my way up to an insanely geared[5.21] big block powered[balanced .040 over 383] '70 "Cuda[12.54 @124mph].

The Dart was a lot of fun! The 'Cuda, it was down right scary but I'd do it all over again in a heartbeat, if I could afford it.

Now we would have to take out a second mortgage just to pick up a half beat 'Cuda project car.

But I do have a beat up little '68 Dart two door sedan that should be interesting, when its finished. Anybody here that is old enough to remember the mid sixties Altered Gassers will know what I'm aiming for.

We had drag racing in high school, started there. Have had a bunch of street/strip cars since and am currently building a '89 mustang to race. Great sport!!!!

I'm in the final stages of my build. It's a 2003 F150 Lightning built for drag racing, road course and auto X. So far it's made 659rwhp/711rwtq with a twinscrew 3.4l whipple on pump gas. It should be somewhere in the 8xx range with c16 and nitrous and good for a 9sec 1/4 mile but we'll see.

I've always loved the way those trucks look--very nice!

I drag raced for over 15 years , but I recently retired the car to street duty.
