I never had a a problem with vxl in water but the sct system is great i love it so much i own 3 of them(rustler, p4de, and slash 4x4) and it will run 3s but watch ur temps and gearing. 2s u can usually run afew teeth higher than stock 3s usually a few teeth under but it has more power that stock for sure

    Just my 2 cents

Really!? I haven't had a problem with my vxl system at all. Is has been great in the wet. It's been through rivers and inches of snow no problem. Are you sure there wasn't something wrong with your system? Traxxas should replace it if it broke from water damage.

Have you considered a mm2? Its waterproof and you would be able to run 3s without having to even worry about temps. Although its pretty spendy. If money isn't an issue, I would go with that.

I believe you can get the 2200 or 2650 combo from castle but for a slash that's kinda overkill. If you order separate you could get the 3800 or 2400. I would go for the 2400 for a 4x4 and you could run 4s if you wanted.

Mm2 with 3800 would give me the option to go for 3s i suppose

I would pair it with the 2400 motor. I had mine geared 19/54 and it was quite nice! Good speed and plentg of low end grunt. I plan on getting another 2400 just not sure what esc I will pair with it.
