    1st problem with my alias

hi guys, have my 1st problem to pose to you for help.

had it for 3 wks and its been great. a few mins ago i had a minor crash
into the sofa. now it wont fly. here is whats going on:

left front motor & prop won`t spin when i begin to throttle up.
then as i begin to give it more throttle, the others kick in and sometimes
the left front spins but not a lot. even at full throttle it won`t lift off.
even a couple of times at full throttle the left front prop would spin,
but not very fast and the others not at all.

if its a motor problem, no worries i can fix this i just hope its not the board
    or something.

    any help here?

    thanks!

from what i have read in here i believe this also. no big deal.

i got a set of 4 that should be here tomorrow or wed according to
    the tracking number.

should i replace just the one bad motor or all 4 because the other 3
have had some mileage on them. i mean would the other 3 be weaker
than the new motors or does it not work that way.

if the motor works its just as good a new motor?

    thanks for reply!

Just my opinion but I think it might fly better with 4 fresh motors in it. Then keep your 3 working motors as spares. Over time when the new motors in it start wearing out and eventually failing you can put your used motors in to replace any failed motors and they will be worn as the ones in the Alias will be by then too.

how do you do a factory "reset"? i don`t think i saw it in the manual.

i`ll try that just til the motors come in, in the event the reset would work.

    • The transmitter settings have been adjusted incorrectly for optimal flight.
    1. Return the transmitter to the default settings.
    A. Ensure the transmitter is off.
    B. Press and hold both AUX buttons.
    C. While holding the AUX buttons, turn the transmitter on.
    D. Continue holding the AUX buttons for 3 seconds until the transmitter beeps.
    E. The transmitter is reset and is in bind mode
uh oh.... that didn't sound good

    Hi guys.

Just want to give you a few pointers on a few things I have worked out with the Alias.

If you do have a small crash and one of the motors won't spin up, hold the Alias in your hand and tilt the quad down towards the motor that won't spin up. If it still doesn't go, rotate the Alias around, tilting the all the motors down a few times and keep going back and trying the DUD motor. Quite often (probably 90% ) I can get the DUD motor going again.

If you get it going, do an Accelerometer reset straight away and you should be good to go.

    Cheers.

Just lost my 3rd motor. And it happened right after a hard landing. I believe the shock of the hard landing killed it. It was immediatly dead after i landed hard on concrete. Those little foot pads are not absorbing enough shock..

Thats why I normally just catch it instead of landing it..

I can't think of why your procedure would fix a motor problem. Do you have a theory of what's happening? IE, what is different about the suspect motor after your procedure, from before? Dirt in the armature finally getting worked clear maybe?

If a motor does not spin up, it may not be the motor that is the problem.

After a crash, the accelerometer seems to get out of wack and won't spin up a motor.

By moving the Alias around, it seems to get the accelerometer to recognize the non spinning motor.

I changed a couple of motors after they would not spin up, and after I discovered this trick, I went back and put the Dud motors back in again and tried the trick and they worked again.

I am not saying it works every time especially on very hard crashes. But on slight crashes it seems to work....most times.

    Cheers.

What is a Accelerator reset? After two motors going out and now I just had two back ones go out. I'm going straight down to the garage and try your method. But I don't know how to do the accelerator reset. I will look it up. If it works, I will be pretty jazzed! I live near a university and I gotta try out my theory using the alias to meet college girls (flying it around the sororities)
Puppies work the best but they grow up to fast! Thanks for sharing the info.
