After all these years...... a 1/16 E-Maxx is about to be born.

Real excited about seeing this thing being driven once it is done.
    Did you say Traxxas?

It actually starting to look like an actual rc car. As I keep moving forward I continue to find things that I want to change and modify for a better overall design and fit. I am also trying to make it as durable as possible. This isnt built to be a shelf queen. Its being built to drive. I would prefer the traxxas TRA7665 shocks but due to the high cost and I would need two sets I am just going to use these for now. Unless of course traxxas wants to donate two sets for this build.... if they even read these threads. " one can hope right!"
Well here are some more pics. The body is just sat on there right now and the one shock set is just set in there to determine sizing for the shock tower redesign. But it does start to give a better picture of what it may look like.

Ok so this will most likely be my last update until next Saturday due to I will be traveling to Germany for work. The rest of the shocks will be here sometime this week. (No luck so far with getting Traxxas to donate two sets of the TRA7665 shocks)The shock towers have been redesigned as you can seen from the pic below. I have lowered the front and rear bumpers and brought in closer to the body of the truck to more closly resemble the 1/10 scale Maxx. The A-arms need to be trimmed down in length to allow for better toe in and out adjustment. And then the radio housing needs to be mounted. Then of course tear the whole thing down sand all the pieces smooth and add the details to them and dye them all black. Thank you everyone for the positive comments and suggestions. Please keep the ideas and suggestions coming.

Not sure yet. I will check the complete weight when all the pieces are built and it's at the final test assembly and I will let you know. I do anticipate it weighing a little more.

He doesn't mold them, he uses a file and patience. Somehow that makes me think he has a past inside a prison cell haha

Hahahaha!!! Sorry but I have never spent anytime behind bars. One of my two jobs is building custom cars and I'm used to doing very detailed work and making custom pieces that require a lot of patience.

After a long weekend and a redo the the lower a-arms do to I did not like the shock mounting system I have finished the rear suspension. The pics below show the redesigned lower a-arms. And then the complete test fit of the rear suspension.

Well if you lose your patience just walk away for a bit. Good luck if you do decide to do a build. I used Delrin plastic, but the nylon infused plastics are also a great choice.

Thank you, I saw your build. "Honey I shrunk the Emaxx" It looked really good. Was excited to see the final product, hopefully you will find the time to finish it soon. It would be cool to have multiple sized emaxx's out there. Plus your lucky to have the CNC machine. The cutting and shaping by hand takes a very long time.

Getting very close. If the local hobby store has the drive shafts in stock I should have a running 1/16 scale emaxx by the end of the weekend. It's also time to start thinking about what color I want the body to be. [IMG][/IMG]

Got a couple of questions for everyone:

I'm looking for an antenna mount want something that looks clean- anyone have a suggestion and possible pics?

Also- any suggestions on what color the body should be? I was thinking orange grey and black, but I was also thinking of letting my son choose the color. But I would be really curious to hear what you all think.

And finally steering servo, discovered the stock servo is shot. I could got factory again but I was thinking of upgrading to the Hitec 85, I also saw the bluebird 390 but that has to be ordered. Thoughts?

Looks fantastic! As far as a servo, buy a Hitec and waterproof it and you'll never have to worry about it again. I tried all but the bluebird and I always was mad at myself for not buying a Hitec, until I finally bought one. Haven't even thought about in since, that's how good it is. Now that I think about it some folks are buying Hitecs that are waterproof already, so there's that option as well. Regardless, Hitec is the only way to go.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. This has been a really fun build so far. I have been receiving a lot of PM's asking about how the Mini Maxx compares to the 1/16 revo and the stampede. I have created a chart below to show a comparison between the three vehicles. Hopefully this answers a lot of your questions, but please feel free to post any other questions you may have. [IMG][/IMG]
