I think it's likely that once Towerhobbies verifies the packaging size, the camera will be eligible for "Parts Saver" shipping, as are other cameras, @ $1.99.

Sorry for trying to save people money!!! That's still $1.99 for shipping.... The order total for mine was only $49.95 And at towerhobby's price of $49.95 + $1.99 = $51.94 I just try so save money anywhere I can....

No reason to be sorry, nor to take offense at an educated guess.

How handy. Now how the heck am I going to remember that? Fortunately you seem to post a lot.

On topic -- I assume the led's can only point forward and pivot from horizontal to straight down?

Regarding the lightbar's 90 pivot (see what I did there?) from directly ahead to straight down is what I understand is possible.

I am pretty excited about these add on's... the light bar is going to be awesome at night and is first on my list. it was nice to see that they designed the camera to fit the Alias in a way that gives it clearance. from what I have read... it should do a very nice job. being able to control these devices from the Tx, and the fact that they set themselves up when plugged in (if I read that right)... very nice!

Okay, you made me look it up. Now I have a bookmark. http://usefulshortcuts.com/alt-codes...-alt-codes.php

Personally I would find a rear and down-facing lightbar more attractive because when it tries to escape at nite I want it nose-out for emergency recovery. Maybe I can jury-rig the pivot.

Many of us (bad) pilots do most of our flying nose-out. While flying thus I find the blue butt-light very bright. I'm sure that my personal preference would not be firing seven more hi-intensity LEDs into my old eyes. To each his own & YMMV.

I virtually never see the blue light. I must fly it higher than you and the direction of the light passes well over my head. If I hit heavy back pitch, the blue light will sometimes dip into my eyes briefly and yeah -- it's bright. I wouldn't want that to be the norm. But I would like something I can rely on to orient me nose-out when the wind starts hauling it off. One wrong move there and it might nearly instantly exceed control range and go AWOL. I've been very lucky so far because I like throwing this a long ways out.

I think that regardless of the number, intensity, or orientation of lights on the Alias, truly determining the direction the Alias is facing is dependent on visual acuity, especially when it's distant from its operator. This is true especially during low-level light conditions, when one's 'depth of focus' (learned from photography books) is lessened due to the fact that the operator's pupils are dilated.
