The diff are stronger but will not affect the transmission, but with the hpi savage diff the top speed will suffer

Now I know which diff gears to avoid. Thanks again Sypsp! I was just looking at those gears a few days ago.

Just ordered diff gears kit for the V-Maxx build. Look forward to the build. Does anyone use Mugen or Team Associated diffs for their 1/8 scale diff case? I'm researching for two other diff gear kits now for the other trucks.

    Mugen: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mugen-1-8-MG...EAAOSw5VFWM-0Z

    Team Associated: http://www.ebay.com/itm/AE-Team-Asso...cAAOSwnNBXTmz9

The fun is in the build - but still need help. Your experience helps a lot.

Then they should fit the hybrids are made for the 1/8 scale buggy

Found this at the rc monster forum copy paste

    Hello,

I know that the T-Maxx is slowly dying but there are still a good amount of people out there that are building them up. FLM is one of the few places that still carry a full line of T-Maxx parts, but they are starting to discontinue some of them.

I myself recently built a full FLM T-Maxx and had to do quite a bit of searching to find part numbers for the differentials. I see a lot of threads here asking what combinations can be used in there Hybrid bulks as well.

I don't know if there is a thread listing part numbers or not so I'm sorry if there is and this ends up being a double...

From my searching this is a small list of differentials that can be used in the FLM Hybrid bulks for the T-Maxx and I am sure for the Savage as well. It is not complete but it is enough to get someone what they need! Feel free to correct any mistakes you may see.

I went with HPI HB D8T diff gears and I am now researching for the two other trucks. I am building one truck and changing the diffs on the others before they go brushless. I wanted to put different manufactures of diffs gears in all the trucks to learn more for upcoming builds. That's why I wanted to know about the various diffs. Thanks again Sypsp.

Perhaps this will give you a clue also copy paste from rc monster forum

I'm running 3K rear and 5K front. Recommended is to make sure the front oil wt is heavier than the rear to healp in steering.

Okay - I called a hobby store and it was suggested I use 5K in the rear and 14K in the front. I thought 14K was a bit much for the front. However, I am still learning. I also thought if silicone oil was to heavy it would affect performance overall - especially motor and ESC. Thanks Sypsp!

Here are some pics of the 1/8 diffs being added to the build. I still must do some shim work on each diff. The pinion gears need shimming. Got to find the right shims for them. Otherwise, the build has been fun and I am learning a lot. Next step is the transmission build.

Still working on the V-MAXX build. I am reasearching for metal gears for the transmission which is the next step of this build. Also, I purchased two more diff kits for the number two truck upgrade. I am learning in the process of the build and upgrades to the two other E-Maxx's.

There were, at one time, skid plates made with titanium. I'm gonna' do some research to see if they are still around. Thanks for the info guys.

Here are some pics of the number two truck (roller) with FLM chassis. Getting it ready for brushless combo. All that is needed is 1/8 scale diff cases before purchasing brushless combo.

Recently installed a Robinson Racing 68t GEN 3 spur gear. Pinion gear will be installed with Castle's 2200 kv motor.

Here are some pics of recent updates to the V-MAXX build. I have installed a Hot Racing aluminum bearing saver steering kit. I removed the blue anodized part of the kit and polished it. (Blue did not go with the color scheme.) Also installed the receiver box. The extra diff case is the upgrade for the FLM chassis #2 truck.

Thanks Gripdog7205! Actually, I enjoy the research of the hobby as well as the build. So, I have been graced to receive excellent price reduction on many parts for the trucks. For instance the tires (including foam inserts) and wheels, on truck #2, cost bout' $72.00. That was a huge discount. Some of the R C stores have went out of business and did discount their sales prices. It's been a fun hobby and I have not been in a hurry to upgrade or build. I have no addictions to the hobby - except - I do like sharing on Traxxas' thread. The forums are very informative.

Whew! The upgrades on the number two were fun and a few. Thought about purchasing the brushless combo next; but, I will add a couple of more upgrades from Robinson Racing and Hot Racing before the brushless combo upgrade. Kinda' like the Ford F-!00 1956 body too.

FYI for those who may have challenges with 1/8th scale diff upgrades, as I did with my trucks; I changed the diff case gaskets that measured 0.55 mm in thickness, to 0.50 mm and the diff challenges do not exist. No shims were necessary either for the V-MAXX build or FLM chassis upgrade truck. Diffs are operating like they were factory built and for me that was good news! Still going brushless though!

I installed the Hot-Racing aluminum bearing saver steering kit on the FLM upgrade truck. I chose to remove the anodized colors and polish the aluminum instead.
