    To a point.

Whilst working on the motor, I had to pull out the reciever cover, and when i did, with nothing broken. I noticed that the wire had a tear in it. And while pulling out the blue antenna tube, pop, it fell off. I guess that explains the range. And justifying an upgrade to a tqi system.

Have you checked out the Traxxas TQi compatibility Guide?

The slow blinking on both the transmitter and receiver indicates that they're in binding mode. If the binding procedure in the manual isn't working, I would try giving Traxxas a call and seeing if they can help you out.

I just got off the phone with them. The guy said that the two are not compatible, and will do that forever. But in the provided instructions, it clearly says, that the TQ will bind. And they said to try to contact the seller, and see if I can exchange the 2218 for a regular 6519, the normal TQ receiver. Will report back when I hear from them.

    Well, I'm impressed.

Dirt cheap rc, took care of it...
They are taking back the receivers I bought, and sending me out new ones at no charge. Their website was wrong. But I should have my new receivers by next week'

with the castle sv3 and 3800 kv motor, is there a video or guide to tell how to hook up battery connectors. And what materials and skills do I need to do this? I do intend to do use traxxas connectors.

Okay all, here's a new update.

    I have:
    TQ radio system (2.4)
    Double blacks all around
Cheap Chinese drift wheels (works OK)

So I'll have a video running soon. I will also be looking to stiffen the diff, because I still intend this to be an all rounder with just some new suspension tuning and wheels. I'll have a vid of the drifting later today, earlier tommarow.

    Video and question

Question, why does the wheel vibrate. What is the issue and how do I fix it?

What is the the best waterproof servo upgrade? I don't want to waterproof it on my own. The stock smells like ozone, and it won't turn. It provides no resistance at all. The sad part is that I was drifting!

The vibrate is still an issue.

Is this a drop in with stock parts

Yes it is. I found the most important part is the wire exit out the bottom as opposed to the side.

I don't have any experience with that servo, but the ad says it fits 1/16th Traxxas models and it also says it's waterproof.

I've had very good luck with their standard size waterproof servos. Great servos for the price!

New servo and a new body. The servo is very nice. Loud. But nice. The body is a combo of black Tamiya rattle and rust oleum red, holding up pretty good

Nice built. Don't mean to hi jack your thread. I am new to this and I am looking for input from the experience builders.
I am in the process of converting a big block merv into a rally. Got all the suspension parts and wheels. Awaiting the Fiesta body to arrive.
I recently did a tranny flip, posi front and rear, center diff to a mini summit. Loved it. My question is, for this rally build. Should I silly putty the front diff? The rally will primarily use as a drift car. Also, what tire options are good for sliding? I seen somewhere in this forum a Hot racing one way diff was discussed. I presume it goes in the tranny like the center diff? If my assumption is correct, what works better for street drifting? Center diff or this hot racing product.
    Thanks in advance.

I think I have it set up OK for now for drifting with the center diff, Posi rear. With the extra weight of the big block and dual batteries, I haven't be able to flip it yet. I think the 9T pinion and 55T spur helps as well. I am using the wheels off my nitro 4Tec and the tires are pretty much bald.
I am going to make a one way clutch tomorrow for the front and try it out. I think I can use this INA one way clutch bearing to make it work. HFL0408. Cut the shaft. drilled out the bore of the gear. Warm up the bearing in hot water and freeze the shaft for an interference fit.

    Well.
I now own a barbecue truck.

The ESC literally CAUGHT FIRE in my car today. No reason. Sending what's left of the esc, battery, parallel adapter, etc. in for their techs to look at. If it's faulty (doubt they would ever say that) then I get a free one, but otherwise, 25 will get me a new one. Oh well. Maybe it's upgrade time!

That's impressive. Reminds me of kicking a rod out at 8000 rpm when I hit the second stage of NOS in one of my BBC's.
It looks like two of the FET's exploded first then the PCB caught on fire. The plastic became fuel.
Wonder what Traxxas is going to say about the root cause...
Outcome is probably send $ for replacement...

    Update:
Just patched holes in chassis with some styrene, too cheap and lazy to replace chassis. No new ESC yet, as funds are tight. Castle sidewinder for 95 bucks has been found, and within a month it'll be ordered.

Did Traxxas do anything for you? It happened to two of mine in one month. I emailed them and they asked me to send the motor and ESC.
Seems like a waste of time. Threw them in the garbage and ordered an offshore cheapo.

They said to send it in, but the brushed power was getting a little slow, I've been itching for an upgrade opportunity, sadly the Titan in my slash decided to go yesterday, so maybe two sidewinders need to be ordered

I don't feel so left out now. I wish they could be more upfront about it. I guess it's better than saying send the broken pieces along with the credit card info.
