Im going to upgrade my slash 4x4. Question is, is the sidewinder sct 3800 combo a decent set up, or should go with the mmp 3800 combo for $100 more? Is it worth extra $? Only using 2S.
I'd pick the MMP/3800, the motor is 3s top but I like the availability of MMP up to 6s when I needed to use it down the road.

Any gearing suggetions? Id like it to be faster than stock velenion with way less heat.
I have had luck with the sidewinder sct with the 3800kv motor. My esc doesn't get as hot as the motor. And the motor only hits 140. In the grass.
This will TOTALLY work, saw a guy on YouTube do it
Et-3s is an mmp and can be flashed to run 6s. Check online you'll find excellent prices. Mine will arrive Friday.

The MMP is more than capable. and after running it for two years with no problems, a Tekin pro 4 4000 kv . I never had temps above 160* F, 2s geared for 35 mph. I hope this helps.

Thanks for advice. MMP it is.
I am running the MMP 3800 on my slash 4x4 and man it is a beast on 2s and 3s. I have not got down since I went 3s, temps are great on 12/54 gearing, maximum I have registered are 147F on the motor, 123F on the ESC with outside in the high 80s.
On paved raod and track , it is just sick, awesome speed.

I just ordered a 3800 for my other sc truck (not traxxas), it's 1lb lighter than my slash so the mmp/3800 should do it just fine, can't wait for it to show up.
54/12 is 4.5 ratio seems like there would be more room to gear up and still keep temps low. on my 2650/mmp I run 54/18 which is 3.0 ratio and I have run up to 54/20 (2.7) for even more top end but I lose some grunt on the short run ups to jumps.

I run 20 thru 23/50 with my 2650 castle, on 3s I have to loosen the heck out of the slipper to keep the front end down.54/12 is 4.5 ratio seems like there would be more room to gear up and still keep temps low. on my 2650/mmp I run 54/18 which is 3.0 ratio and I have run up to 54/20 (2.7) for even more top end but I lose some grunt on the short run ups to jumps.
IMO thats where the castle four poles shine, you can gear them to the moon and still have all the torque you need.![]()

Got my mmp/3800 combo a couple days ago. Just need some time to install. Cant wait!
The truck hasn't broke yet and the 2.8 trenchers balloon so bad it never gets close to top end lol.
I run tekno axles all around, that and the truck rarely gets run, probably 5 packs since I bought it a year ago, I'm more of a 2wd fan, I run them near every day.
Don't get me wrong I enjoy all my trucks, I just cant have as much fun with the 4wds as the 2wds deliver.
Its (as they say) all good, for me building and upgrading is 80% of the fun.
