Thanks man. I really like this combo. After I'm done wringing every last mph out of this thing I can, it will probably return to this setup.

Judging by some other threads on here, 100 might not be in the cards but I'm gonna try.

Tightening things up and giving her an overhaul tonight before I pour on the juice. Full set of new bearings, 4 new control arms and a clean up and lube. Found a rear axle loose. The grub screws were backing off.

I might have found the source of my low speeds last time. I wiped out a rear hex. She was slipping for sure.

Here's a few pics of what's to come.

Had to shim the bottom of the rear away from the arm.

    All mounted up

Started playing with the 17mm adapters

Looking good there. That's the first I've seen someone out the Orange springs up front and grey springs on the rears.

I had heavy springs on the front with my Ultra's. Maybe it's just because they weren't up to the task and needed some help. Maybe I can back off on the D8s.

I just bolted them up last night. I wouldn't be surprised if I switch them around or just go grey all the way around.

Starting to take shape now. I have some more trimming to do on the body then fabricate some mounting posts and make a mount for the wing.

At least it's starting to look like I want.

Due to the miserable michigan weather, project centipede is on hold until it drys up a bit. High speed, cold tires and big puddles are not a great combo. I'm shifting back to S/Maxx combo for now.

I ordered some f-11 wheels with the 17mm hubs and I tried to order some unmounted 2.8 super swampers but proline says they're discontinued!?...

I found a few sets on fleabay but they may be on their way out in the unmounted variety.

I found a take off set on fleabay. I think I just searched for vorza shocks.

I did end up switching them around with the red springs in back and the grey springs in front. Much better.

much better as stiffer or softer? How much did you pay and how long did they take to come in?

I had to run quite a bit of preload with the grey in the rear. Now with the red I run about 1/4" preload in the rear and none in the front. The shocks work like they should now. I don't have to have the springs cranked down to soak up the bumps. The truck is more planted because the suspension works like it should instead of bouncing over the bumps. S

I think I paid around $80 or so for the pair. I don't remember anything out of the ordinary with shipping so it was probably a couple days to a week. Sorry. Don't remember the specifics.

that's cool, what shock oil do you have in the front and rear, is it the same or different kinds? so for 80 bucks you got four shocks or just two (like either front or rear only?) is the front and rear lengths different? Man don't be sorry at all that's for the input. I'm new at being comfortable on ordering online and just curious on how others experiences were/are. Thank you.

The shock oil is whatever comes stock in these shocks. They were supposedly new take offs from a vorza. I got all 4 for that price. I know it was under $100. Front and rear are the same length.

They came just how you see them. One set of red springs and one set of grey springs. The grey are softer. The looked like a new set of shocks that was removed from a car. Works for me...

I got mine off dollar hobbyz as they had a special some time back, both front and rear with orange springs as I bought two rears, the fronts were 10$ more.

This truck is going to need a front splitter if it's going to go fast. Once she gets over 60, it wants to blow over. I pushed it once and put it on the lid for about a 100 yard slide. Time for some shoe goo to fill the holes.

Good news is there's plenty of speed left. I still have the big spur to put in and there was plenty of throttle left today. Crazy riding wheelies at 60mph...

What a great thread. I'm inspired, I think I'm going to do a slash chassis conversion and pick up an emaxx after market body. I just think the proportions of this setup are so much nicer. How does it handle in the air?

The trenchers give you plenty of control. I'm guessing the super swampers will be better since they are a little heavier.

Slash chassis is definitely the way to go once you get past the velineon stuff. Much more stable.

I don't have any Swampers yet, those will come some time down the road. Right now it's Trenchers, Lockups or Talons with some Sand Paws in the snow. I've got everything priced out and can do the whole conversion with a Ram 1500 body for about 85 bucks. That doesn't include the T Bone bumper on the way which is the finishing touch on getting this to look right scale wise. If it works like I think it will I'll be getting a few more bodies in the future. I love to paint these things and having more space to work with will be nice. Masking a stampede body sucks.
