A quick pr-fit mod-up, looking good so far.
    [IMG][/IMG]
If you take a good look at the motor you'll see I broke one of my cardinal rules, there is infact a cc fan i=on the motor.
While doing a few 4s 27/36 geared speed runs I noticed the motor in the high 140 to low 150, thought it may be a temporary fix.

Looking good billy, got any idea what color your going for?

Working on my 360mm wheelbase XO-1 right now, got the body and paint (blue/white) already.

Blue and black color scheme, chassis is in for an over night soak as we type.
I'm hoping for something like this.

I manged to shoehorn a 27 tooth mod 1 tekno pinion to a 36 tooth traxxas spur.
I'm experimenting with the plastic motor amount till I'm gain enough confidence to attack a hot racing unit.

This thing is going to look just as good while it's flying across the pavement as it will sitting still.

The paint is TAMIYA (rattle can) PS-16 Metallic Blue, the girl friend picked it out.
I've put more decals on but haven't had time to post pics of them, in fact I haven't had time to do much with any of my rc's in the past week.
Working on the house has been keeping me pretty busy.

After some more messing around I got a 27 mod 1 pinion and 36 mod 1 spur to fit with all four motor mount screws.
I tried my best to get a pic.
If you look closely you can see the screw head under the pinion.
    [IMG][/IMG]
At this point the gear cover is the only thing that wont fit.
Now that I know exactly how much materiel has to come of the motor mount and motor plate, I will soon be filling down a Hot Racing mount for a permanent fixture, anything bigger will require motor mount and chassis mods I'm not willing to do.
I'm only looking for 100mph, while theres no way to tell I'm but I'm fairly confident this setup should do the job.
On 4s the theoretical speed is 147.58mph, which we all know isn't happening.
If push comes to shove I'll put my 2200kv with a 6s on board.
One way or another I'm gonna getter done, a 100mph that is.

OFNA tread/belted, I'm not 100% certain on the belted part, they do balloon a bit but not horribly.
On a stand in a 80mph free spin they balloon about 1/2", compared to most others thats remarkable.

They really dont have enough time on them to tell.
I'm impressed with their grip and performance, they seem to be holding up well for the maximum of four 4s packs on them.

I got the 27/36 mounted with an aluminum mount.
I went with an strc mount first since I had three of them and only two hr's
Any way I'll be installing the lundsford rods, pro track arms and tekno dog bones this week.
A couple pics of the 27 tooth mounted up with all six mount screws in tight.

As you can see the tekno pl dog bones have been installed.
I have the lundsford steering rods in but wait for the others.
    [IMG][/IMG]
I have a set of pro track rods on my old 2wd racer that I've measured and they will fit fit till the lundfords get here.
Not long now, weather permitting a few practice runs will be coming soon.
I just need to pll my sef away from my darn scx10 more

Man those Lundfords look beefy! And i can't believe you fit that 27T pinion on without eating up the chassis I saw a guy on youtube fab up a motor mount plate so he can run 36/36 gearing. It looks like he just used the stock one as a template and kind of extended it so the motor sat a little higher.

AS far as I can tell, 27/36 is as big as I can go and still keep all six motor mount screws intact, not to mention I couldn't take another 10th a centimeter of the of the motor plate without being concerned with strength.
I'm hoping to get the body mounted tomorrow.
The thing sits so low it's looks great.

She now sits on all fours.
    [IMG][/IMG]
I love the fact the body and chassis sit at the identical same ride height.
    [IMG][/IMG].
I'm not happy with the rear wheel wells but maybe the next one will come out better.
    [IMG][/IMG]
I haven't done the front mounts yet, perhaps later tonight.
At least I know a few test runs will be soon, not going for 100mph right now, want the body to look good this winter, lol.

looking good Billy can't wait......anxious to see that run. I know what you mean by the rear wheel well lol, my first one was also a mistake and so I kept all of the cut wheel well lexan and use it as a template for the rear

Yeah I love it, the chassis and body both run 8.5mm ground clearance.
On a not so good note, its a extremely rainy day.
Sure glad I was sure to get it ready for first thing this morning.

I'm trimming the spoiler a little at a time.
I know as soon as I hit the brakes or achieve my goal or near goal speeds it will be scraping, I have no issue with this, better then it taking flight.

Finally the last four pieces of the puzzle.
Now if I can find the time tonight.

These will go better with the already installed steering rods.

All the titanium rods are finished.
I'm ready for some slower runs to get a feel of the 27/36 gearing on 4s.
I'm afraid the weather maybe a bit to cold for the tires to get any kind of warmth in them for any real speed runs.
Might be next spring or even summer before I can really turn it loose.
    [IMG][/IMG]
    [IMG][/IMG].
I'm going to be running a better probably more amp hungry servo and plan to run a 10amp castle bec.
Any one know how to wire it into a two channel specky receiver? I know I can (will) plug it into the bind plug but no sure how to wire the esc fan, perhaps inline with the servo receiver wires, the fan that is.

The more I think about it I should be able to join the bec fan wires at the receiver, the voltage should be regulated from the bec prior to entering the receiver, or a Y plug from the receiver.
At least it sounds good in theory.
