I thought about that body before I got my Baja Bug, but my tire/wheel combo would have me trim too much of it to be any good.

Ced, they're dirt cheap on eBay....
Get one and tell us how it fits
If it does fit nice, I might order one as well

Wheel base is too long, I think the Rally is a 205mm or 215mm WB and that body is for the 225mm WB version of the Tamiya M-0 chassis.

Yup, rally wheelbase is 206mm vs the 225mm of the SoCal body. But I'd guess you could shift the wheel wells a bit (especiallythe front one) to get it to fit. Or you could possibly mount the Summit rear arms and find a way to narrow the track width...)
The biggest problem would be the right wheels for this body, as the track width of the rally is 185mm vs 172mm of the SoCal body... Perhaps some 0 offset wheels and some camber?
