    WarBAJR II

Well, I finally had some time to take some pics this morning and thought I'd share my latest project.

    WarBAJR II

I've always wanted a Slash 4x4 Platinum (6804R) 4-Pole, but couldn't justify one until after paying my property tax and after Christmas shopping. I figured sometime in the first quarter of 2015 would be safe.

I saw one on eBay that looked good and put a ridiculously low bid on it... I won!
I got it for $ 249.00. See the following link for the original eBay listing:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-plat...p2047675.l2557

According to the listing, the seller only ran 7 pack through it:

Traxxas Slash Platinum Edition. bought this truck last month with intentions to keep for a while but have really lost interest in it. We have moved on to bigger faster trucks and this is no longer needed. this truck is almost ready to go just add your own radio and receiver and the battery of your choice up to a 3s lipo and go tear up the ground somewhere. these come new almost ready to run which you have to add your own radio receiver and paint the body. The body is worn as we run on beach w paddles...the tires that came with the truck have never been run on. You will only need to replace the body within the first few weeks of running it...this slash is the platinum which has lots of aluminum upgrades...big bore shocks..sway bars....and this is the newest one out w the newest vxl system.... Don't miss out on this great deal. What's in the pic is what's coming....just the new stock tires which were just reinstalled. New this is $399 to $429 plus tax....reserve is very fair.

After getting it, I took the whole thing apart to clean out all the sand and small rocks that were EVERYWHERE. I also wanted to take it apart to familiarize myself with the Slash. As long as I had it apart, I dyed the chassis black.

    Upgrades I installed when reassembling:

Traxxas XO-1 Front and Rear Diffs
    Traxxas Stampede Front Bumper
Tekno Big Bone Center Drive Shaft
    King Headz Motor Mount
King Headz 17mm Closed Flanged Wheel Nuts
    VG-Racing Chassis Brace
    VG-Racing GTR Shock Springs
    STRC E-Buggy Wing Mount
    STRC Rear Hinge-Pin Block
    STRC 17mm Hex Conversion Kit
    Pro-Line F-11 2.8" 17mm Wheels
    Pro-Line 2.8" Trenchers
    Pro-Line Trifecta Wing
    JConcepts BAJR Body
    80wt Shock Oil
10K Diff Oil in Front Diff
100K Diff Oil in Center Diff
100K Diff Oil in Rear Diff

That's all I can think of for now.

Im not done with it yet... I still need:

    Rx/Tx
Batteries (I'm probably going 3S so better drive shafts are my next upgrade when the stockers snap)

Thank you everyone for the knowledge imparted on your threads and comments to make my build possible!

    On to more pics:

    Thank you everyone!
I love the creativity, assembling and modding aspect of this hobby.

Ordered a Tx/Rx from DollarHobbyz on blackfriday:
    http://www.dollarhobbyz.com/traxxas-...-receiver.html

Now all I need is some Christmas money and get batteries (SPC 3S).
Once I do, we'll see how long it takes to torque fracture the stock drive shafts.

Forgot another non-stock part in my build:
Hot Racing Heat Sink Motor Plate

    Er33:
Thank you... I almost got the Interco TSL Super Swampers as well.
    How are they holding up?

    Jrc121:
Thank you... any updates on your truggy?

    Sean1214:
Thank you... how's your "slow build" coming along?

    Kitteh298:
Thank you... I like your BackBAJR set-ups as well!

    El Sob:
Thank you... I hope to see me drive it as well!
Glad your rig is back up and driving again!

    Still thinking about it.
    My MERV has LEDs.
I'm still looking and might go the LED bar versus the 4-Can stock lights...

The new tires are awesome. Good grip they have minimal ballon untaped when running at high speeds which is good didn't really know how the closed cells would perform

Glad they are working out for you.

I didn't see that the closed cell foam inserts were available
separately until the day after I glued my Trenchers.

Super sweet, definitely get the stampede compatible light set! My bash slash is almost identical, I just don't have the wing or 17mm conversion (yet) I have a backup BAJR body I might just try trimming back the fenders like you did. My tires can rub the fenders if they expand.

Thanks. I'll probably just get the stock Pede light kit. Decisions decisions...

I kept the rear fenders on my E-Maxx.

Just to let you and others know the 6804R was offered with the 2-pole as well... 4-Pole is now obviously the new system but they kept the truck number the same...

It has been so far... but only ran 1 2s pack from my MERV in it just to try it out... What a beast!

I want to get some 3s for this rig, but once I saw the torque and power it gets from just my MERV's 2500mAh 50C battery, I used the money I was stashing for my 3s' and ordered MIP X-Dutys and 17mm converters instead!

Now I gotta wait for more disposable income to come in before I get my 3s'...
hopefully Santa will be forgiving this year!

Just got a shipment in today:

    MIP X-Duty Front CVD
    MIP X-Duty Rear CVD
    MIP 17mm Hex Adapters
    MIP Metric Hex Wrenches (1.5, 2.0, 2.5 & 3.0)
    Traxxas Velineon ESC Cooling Fan
    Traxxas LED Light Bar

Guess I know what I'll be doing tonight while the kids are doing their homework!

Just a few more items till I'm done (or till I find something else...):

Need to Order: 2x SPC LiPo Power, Lithium Polymer (LiPo) Battery Pack; 6900mAh, 70C, 3S, 11.1V Hard-Case
Need to Scrounge around in my Parts Bin: Rear red LEDs
Waiting on Shipment: JConcepts G-Locs (2.8) Tires and Pro-Line 2.8 F-11 17mm Wheels for street runs

Getting closer to running it on something other than my MERV's 2S batteries!

Set-up question for you 3S gurus:

I currently have the new 4-Pole system with
    Tekno Big Bone drive shaft,
MIP X-Duty CVDs front and back,
Proline 2.8 wheels with Trenchers and
will soon order 6900mAh, 70C, 3S LiPos from SPC.

Would I be safe with 13/54 gears?
13 is the only pinion I have right now, but it "sounds" like it should be OK.

I have my 100K center diff installed, but if running 3S,
should I swap it out for the slipper?

Is there any weak link in my set-up?

Any and all advise/comments would be appreciated!

It should be ok yes but you will want to watch your temps for the first few times out.
And the center diff is questionable.

center diff with a metal motor mount should hold out on 3s alright. Mine did. It might overheat if you do nothing but smash the trigger instead of being smooth with it though, as it will be offloading a lot of power.

13/54 will likely be safe in moderate driving conditions but nothing too intensive, since you run 2.8 trenchers, that's a lot more load on the system than stock SCT wheels. Personally if you say on the trigger for prolonged periods I'd find an 11t pinion.

    Thanks you guys.

I have a King Headz motor mount and Hot-Racing heat sink motor plate installed.
I'll just keep watch on the temps and hope it's OK with the 13t.
At least the 11t pinions are cheap and easy to find!

Since I'm lazy, I'll keep the center diff in for now and hope it holds out.
What signs will it give when it stars to wear? What should I look out for?

In the pic below you can kind of see:

I was visiting my parents and they were throwing away an old VCR deck.
I took it apart and kept the thin sheet metal housing.
I cut the shape I needed out of paper to test fit, then traced and cut it out of the metal.
Bent the tab over then screwed it on my shock tower. Done!
I also put a pice of Gorilla Tape on the body where the tab slips over to protect from scratching.

I just took some iPhone pics for you:

To mount the body, I just slip the center of the rear into the tab and clip the front as usual.

I hope that explains what I did clear enough. If you still have any questions, let me know!

I like it, but I trimmed it a little too small. It moves slightly from side-to-side.
I should remake it with just the plate and put in a standard body mount, but I
can live with it and besides, I like having a little custom work on my rig...
