    normal charge vs fast charge

what's the difference between fast charge and normal charge on the little charger, what are the advantages and disadvantages? will fast hinder performance? shorten life? shorten flight times? how much faster does it charge vs normal?

    thanks

Fasty charge will reduce the life of the bat6tery a little bit. Your flighjtbtimes will also be just a little bit shorter.

Some time ago, when asking a similar question while chatting with Traxxas support, I asked if I could use my Samsung cell phone charger (s5) and he said OK, but charge on Normal, !!, I've been doing it since and here in SoCal, San Diego, I'm typically getting over 11 minutes. I'm not a super hard flyer tho.

The charger is limited to the current provided by your power source. If the output on your USB power supply is only 250mah then the charger isn't going to put in 1000 regardless of the setting. Some "cheapy" USB power supplies have very low current ratings for charging things like cell phones or headphones.

Charge time is approximately 40 minutes on the Fast charge setting.
If true, the slow charge would be somewhere around 70 minutes? I never time mine and I never use the stock charger. I use a parallel cable and my regular battery charger to do six batteries (for two Aliai) at once. Not surprisingly, a $175 charger does a more thorough job of charging.

Like TS said... this is from the Quick Start Guide:
For the best charging performance, use a USB wall adapter rated at 1 amp or greater
    output.

With a plug adapter, can the QR-1 dual charger be used to charge the Alias battery? I know it will take much longer, but I can't get the Alias dual charger anytime soon.

I think it will. As long as it's a 1 cell battery, that's 3.7 volts. It may indeed take longer so I'd keep an eye on it to be safe.
