    You have to have a certain post count. I believe 3,000 posts in sub forums other than the Alley and the Marketplace.

    Plus, it keeps the forum family friendly and reduces the work load on the mods. On some forums, people can get pretty silly with their avatars, forgetting that RCs are in fact toys, and there might be younger eyes browsing. When you hit 3000 posts, you likely have a good amount of respect for the community.
