Best 3S Lipo for TRAXXAS 1/16 Mustang

I am currently using a Traxxas 1/16 Mustang Boss 302 with a CC 5700kv motor and Mamba Max ESC. I am looking to buy 3S Lipos to run in parallel mainly for speed runs. Maxamps seems to have 2250mah 100c 3S Lipos and I have seen some using Boost 1800mah 60-120c 3S Lipos. Could someone let me know what are the best 3S Lipos regardless of the price.

Maxamps and got2gorc lipos, if you mean those, are extremely expensive.
You can save yourself a lot of money and get two SPC 1500mAh 3S.

I doubt that your Mustang will consume the 90A on 3S.

I don't remember what my Mustang used on speed runs, but I think that was well below 1000W.

When I speak to CC Customer Support they always tell me to use a minimum of 500mah 30C batteries. When I told them that it doesn't fit in the Traxxas 1/16 battery compartment, they suggest to get as close as possible to that mark. Do you know of any batteries with >1500mah and >30C. I've been searching a lot and the only ones I could find were the got2gorc , Maxamps, Integy 1800mah 35C, Hyperion 1600mah 35C and some . . . at 1500mah 35C. Any opinion on the Integy and Hyperion Lipos?

I use Hyperion and those Chinese ones! Not sure if u can say them on here! I like both!
The Hyperions last much longer. I run 4s in my mini well it started as a rally 1/16th I don't know what it is now!
But it goes somewhere in the mid 70MPH range and is a lot of fun! But I changed literally almost everything from the steering knuckles to the electronics!
Difference between Lipos for me was Hyperion they did not go bad some of my Chinese ones did!
OH the 1600s last plenty long 1/2 hr

Quick Question, do the Hyperion 1600mah 35C batteries fit in the batterry compartment (thickness 21.3mm for the battery compared to about 20mm for the battery compartment)

Since a Mustang is used on road, you won't pull idiot currents like you do when you drive a Merv through tall grass.
A 5000mAh 30C would mean that your combo would consume 150A. On 3S that is 1665W. The 1/16 Mustang will never be able to get 1665W on the street. You are lucky when you get to half of that power.

Using two SPC 1500mAh 3S 30C in parallel would mean 90A on 11.1V. Just try to get that amount of power (around 1000W) safely to the road.

When you explain CC that you are using a light car like the Mustang with that combo and they still suggest a battery solution that can deliver 150A on 3S, than my conclusion is that they don't know what they are talking about.

Edit: SPC quality beats the other mentioned brands in this thread.

Thank You Petertje60. That clears a lot of stuff. I think I will settle for the SPC packs and save a lot in the process.

    Why wouldn't you use Traxxas Lipo 1400 Mah 25 3s 11.1v? traxxas Part # 2823.

Maybe because you get two SPC packs for the price of one Traxxas one.

I was wondering whether it is possible to use two 2S lipos in series for just one speed run at a time with the CC 5700kv motor

4S is risky. You can get beyond 80K rpm with a 5700Kv motor. I know the motor cap says 100K rpm max, but I would take 80K rpm as a max.

Extremely difficult to keep her on the ground at that velocity.

With such a short wheelbase a Merv would be almost impossible to control at 89mph, even a heavily modified one. Km/h seems more likely

Set up was a pulso 6000kv motor with a hobbywing esc and I'm pretty sure it was a 23 pinion and it was a 45 spur.now I have installed a castle 3 esc with a 5700 motor and 31 gear with a 45 spur.it's juuust right it will lift the fronts whenever you want and it hauls u know what!I recommend this combo.
