Thanks, and yessir, you have a good eye. I looked for something that would match the trailer wheels (truck's front wheels too) and fit the old Proline "Stryker II"s that I wanted to use. They're 2.2's (from the '80s), so I had to trim out the beads and stretttch them over the 2.8 Jato wheels, but they gave me the result I wanted, all matched up.

Oh, and I just realized that you can't really see what truck it is.... so ...

    it's Vaterra's '68 Ford F-100, short-bed.

Thanks, I wanted something that you don't see everywhere.
It's kind of a nostalgia build for me. I had a 1:1 of this truck, rebuilt the motor, front and rear-ends, refurb'd the interior swapped to auto' trans' added power-steering and AC. Then I got married, traded it off for an SUV, yatta yatta.
Anyway it's added to the fun, building another '68 shorty.
And I gotta admit, "re-animating" the old RC-12 has definitely added an extra level of fun too.

I got the Leopard system installed, set up and tested today. It's purrrrfect !!

Now with the lower gears it has a nice manageable slow speed for towing, and with an easy gear switch it will wheelie on every launch (flip on it's back if you're too heavy on the throttle )

Also did a first-shot mock-up for an aluminum chassis ....

...that should give me plenty of room for electrics and even room for a pair of 3S if I want ....

I'll trim it down some before I cut metal, but that's the gist of it.
I finally got started on the body too. First stage masking, ready for some "Mazda" purple.

This will be fun! I plan to set it up with some removable wheelie-bars to swap for the hitch, so with a simple gear change it can go from the drag-strip to draggin' the boat to the lake.

No aluminum yet. I worked on the pattern today, but haven't cut metal. And it's actually scale plywood, it's 4-ply for just a little flex. I still have the original, fiberglass chassis from the "e" but it's cracked from being hit twice by "big" cars.
I'll start cutting and shaping soon, and post pic's.

Thanks, and yep, she'll flip without trying. I can play with the gearing more, now that it's better-controlled power.
It's supposed to be dry and warm for a couple of days, so maybe I can get some aluminum cut and some paint slung into the body.

    Nice pun you got there.

This is a really cool little summit you got here. Wish I had the budget to do something like this.

Thanks, traxxasfan21, I have kind of punny view on things at times. I'm guessing you've checked out my actual mini-Summit thread below, it's pretty wild too. THIS truck started with NO budget .... then it turned into so much dang fun.

Thank you, slashcrazy, it's just the lunatic engineering of a mad-scientist.
    But here's an update...

it was nice again today, so I got silver shot inside the "Phantom Purple", ready for the white.

And I got the chassis plate to the jig-saw and got her all cut out and ready for "brake-time".

    and the fun keeps rolling...

It was a busy day. After "brake-time" this morning I had this ready ...

...that fit the old plywood and body like this....

    and this.

So it was time to get the plywood out of the way and .... may I present my RC-12e - volved.

I widened the front track by 10mm and added 5mm to the wheelbase, so it fits the body a bit better.

I guess I should have given the purple a couple more days to cure, because my white seeped up under the edge and looks like little white grass growin' out of the top edge in a couple of places, daaang.

Thanks, it should let me shift a little weight back and forth to go from draggin' the trailer to draggin' the "wheelie's". Enough room for a pair of 3S too, for some real wheelies.

I still have a lot to finish up, but I think she's gonna look pretty good in front of the boat.

More "comfortable" out front than the Punkin was anyway.

It didn't quite get warm enough to paint today, so I soldered up some wheelie bars.

Here is a close mock-up, the wheels will sit a bit higher.

They'll be adjustable, so I can raise and lower them a little.

Thanks, nitro', I still have to shoot a couple coats of clear over the paint repair , and then I'll add the blue pinstripe on the truck to finish off the match-up.
Got primer shot onto the wheelie's this eve'. Need to find some hose to use for "tires".

Got the 'bars painted, cleared the body-fix too. Then cut some wheelie-"tires" from silicone hose. I think they look like urethane wheels.

Well, here's the "Coffin Jockey" in her "Shoe-shine" guise (see above for the Underdog persona )I got the pinstripes on so now the ensemble is more complete.

Still have lots of details to finish, but she's getting there. Prettier than Punkinstein out front, at least.

Got a back bumper made, from 2 pieces of alum' rod (3/8 and 1/4 in.) I milled a flat side on both rods and cut out for a license plate. Then I decided to cut a slot for the trailer-plug to go thru the bumper, to keep it out of the way for the 'bars and 'chute.

thats some attention to detail. Love the build.

Maybe add a cooler or a floatie on the bed of the truck to hide the body mounts?

Thanks I've kinda fallen in love with her too.
And .... got it covered .... ARRarrarrarr

I stitched this up a couple days ago. I may add some scale "snaps", but it's good 'nuf for now.
Now she has a "skirt" to match the boats "jacket".

I started working on a set of "lakes" pipes for her today.

Still need to polish 'em up and paint inside the trumpets, then make some plugs for 'em ..... and other stuff.

Just wanted to pop a quick update on the Coffin Jockey (boat puller ).
I got the 'chute pack made-up and on her. Got the sport side mirrors painted and on too.

And here's a short "Burnout" video ..... if you frame thru, you'll see her pull the front wheels when I let go. .... and she left double stripes on the porch.

Thanks The Coffin Jockey has gotten a few more upgrades since my last post. I added some exterior door handles that I made and polished all of the alum' parts.

    I also built a full interior ....

I used Axial bucket seats, and scratch-built a dash with back-lit, aluminum gauge panel, polished alum' roll-bar, carpet, etc ...

I still have some more details to finish, right now the steering wheel is just taped in .....

.... and I just reworked the steering servo set-up so I'm itching to drive it some more.

And I've been playin' with the FPV system in my crawler.

I wanted to share this. I recently grabbed a new 3ch TQi set with the Bluetooth module, then got a set of telemetry sensors for a T-Maxx, and put it all in my Pro-Street truck. I just soldered a tap-wire into the ESC's pos' wire for the voltmeter, then wrapped the temp sensor around the motor, so those were easy.

Then I cut the sensor holder off of the mount and epoxied it into the GRU for my truck ....

.... and drilled an aluminum gear (opposite from the grub screw) and CA'd 3 small neodymium magnets into it for the trigger.

After shimming the gear close to the sensor, bingo ....

..... we have a working "dash" display.

Then I cut a cardboard bracket/support for my Ipod touch....

and with the belt clip (on my $6 case) it clips to the top of the Tx,

the long tab lets me hold it to the back and makes for easy view.

I also added more details .... carved a balsa wood scoop .... hood pins .....more interior detail ..... Catwoman as a driver .... and made a new shorter set of wheelie-bars.

I LOVE the TSM, it lets you tweak it to the available traction "on the fly" and keeps it straight as a rail in the quarter-mile. And now the "dash" lets me monitor everything from the Tx. TOTALLY AWESOME TRAXXAS!!!!!
The speedo' isn't quite calibrated to my gears and tires (it shows a top speed of 66-mph, I don't quite think so .....) but it sure makes my buddies (and me) smile a lot.

    Thanks for lookin'

Thanks, It just keeps getting more fun.
I got my DTS-1 set up (in my living room) and all connected to my Ipod AND the truck. Now I just have to take it to town and find a clean, empty parking lot to give it a proper field test. I'm anxious to get a speed trap reading, and see how my reaction times are.
    I'll post up a time-slip when I get some.

    Thanks for checkin' it out.

Thank You, and yes, they are now. I originally built the truck and boat with brushed set-ups, but then I upgraded the boat with a ProBoat 1500-kv and put a Leopard 3300-kv setup in the truck. Then recently I switched to a 4-pole motor in the truck for better low-end punch and stronger brakes. The yellow truck is VXL with a Dynamite Tazer ESC.
I took the DTS-1 to town today and made a few passes. Here's a time-slip from the second run ....

.... and the first run, with a little better reaction time, speed and ET.

I deep-staged the second run, so I was a little nervous on the light.

    Thanks for lookin'
