New 8-Amp Charger from Traxxas...EZ Peak Dual

Check out the new charger from Traxxas. I might have to replace my EZ Peak Plus 6 amp.

Two covers come off of the front ports revealing 2-2s and 2-3s balancing ports, similar to that of the EZ Peak 2790. But you may be referring to not being able to connect a 6s balance board to do 2-3s at the same time I'm guessing.

I think I'm going to be a little culture shocked going from a charger with a LCD screen to this new one.

There is nothing saying that you have to buy it

This dual charger is supposed to be coming out mid May. I am looking at getting two, I have Traxxas packs (NiMH), but also have two Onyx 6400mah 3s Lipo with balance connectors.

Anyone know if this Traxxas Dual Charger can charge non-Traxxas Lipos with balance connectors, such as the Onyx 6400mah Lipo (with Traxxas connectors).

    Thanks

If you scroll down right under where it says "Our Most Powerful Charger" you will see how the legacy and other batteries w/ separate balancing plugs hook up.
I like it and you can charge 2 at once. Having 100 watts vs. the 80 watts on the 6 amp is good also. You get 2 more amps and 20 more watts, what a deal.

    Thanks for the notes.

I'm am wondering if I should wait for the Traxxas Dual Charger (3-5 weeks away including shipping to where I am), or just get a Duratrax Dtxp4245 for charging packs for my Spartan
    http://www.duratrax.com/chargers/onyx/dtxp4245.html

Also noticed the Traxxas Dual Charger max charge rate is 4A when charging two packs:
"1.0-4.0A (Dual Mode) or 5.0-8.0A (High Output Mode) (100W Max.)"

    Vs.
5A per pack with Duratrax Dtxp4245.

    Thoughts?

I own the 245 and find the 80 watts and 5 amps limiting. If you are doing 2S and don't charge over 5a I suppose it's ok but I find it very limiting. I finally bought a higher amp (20a) charger to avoid any power limitations.

The Traxxas model is what I would focus on due to the higher amperage available if single charging and the 'acceptable' charging if dual charging - but if I were dual charging that frequently I'd get a better charger.
