    2wd Stampede steering issue

    Hello,

I am having a steering issue which does not allow the front wheels to come back to center. It gets stuck with the steering turned right. I have to unscrew the the screw, and manually reposition the servo saver. I also tried unplugging the servo wire while the esc xl-5 is turned on... At this point, I don't know what else I have to do to correct this problem..

    Thanks for your input!!

Have you tried adjusting the steering trim on your Radio? If the Servo will turn the wheels left/right but won't center that's the first thing I'd check. If it's not that simple then follow Greatscotts advice to troubleshoot.

Sounds like the gears in your servo might be stripped, or you have some binding in your steering.

    Recommend the following:
    1- Remove your servo saver.
2- Move your wheels full left and full right by hand, make sure everything cycles smoothly full-throw in both directions.
3- Turn on your radio and truck, using the remote, cycle your steering servo full left and full right. The servo should move both directions without any snags or stops. If it does, then you likely have stripped gears. You can get a new servo, or replace the gears in your servo.

Yes. Does the servo click when you turn it? If its an xl5 maybe just upgrade to a stronger servo. Cheaper in the long run. If you do change the gears make sure you have some grease or vaseline handy. The gear rebuild kit doesn't come with any. It's pretty easy to do.

You've probably stripped the plastic gear teeth. No worries. Replace them with metal gears: Savox SG-SCMG. These are what I use in my Traxxas 2075 servos.

So the savox gears fit straight into the 2075? Didn't know that.

Yes they do. I have them in my Sla2h's 2075 servo and they work just fine.
