The 3PL is probably the best bang for buck Futaba you can buy. It has some great features for the price and is an amazing entry level multiple model radio. I have one on my Baja 5bSS and I remember another owner on another forum doing a range test and getting close to 1400 metres without glitching. I KNOW I can drive mine so far that I can't tell which direction my 1/5th scale is going (it almost looks like a dot!) and no range issues.

I must have close to 30 other Futaba radios, so I stand by their products.

I also have a Spektrum radio which I have had 3 serious runaways with. Take from this what you will.

As long as it is Futaba's FHSS it will work (don't buy the FASST receivers).

As long as it has enough channels to support how ever many ports you need (i.e, 1 for steering, 2 for throttle etc) you are good to go.

I used a FHSS (r2106gf) helicopter receiver in an Exo of mine, it was small, had 6 channels (steering, throttle, esc fan, motor fan, lights)and a 1 inch antenna that didn't quite exit the receiver box plus it was the cheapest! It worked flawlessly!

Plus the are all 4.8 to 7.4v, so if you want to run high voltage servos you are only restricted by your BEC.

Futaba's current range of FHSS recivers:

Glad you're happy with it and it is working well for you. You can feel safe knowing your rc is going to do exactly what you tell it and not be a runaway danger to others or taking off and being an unnecessary expense or liability.

a little horror story for u guys why I decided to upgrade to the Futaba. My first truck that got me back into RC world (since 1980's when i was young) was a stampede 2wd ... i bought it used upgraded everything installed and mmp combo in it with brand new 3s battery. finally got it completely rebuilt went out front of my house turned it on rolled my nice shiny truck down the driveway into the street and CRUNCH!!!!!! a ford explorer that i couldn't see cause my truck was blocking my view rolled right over it!!!! yea it wasn't pretty... so now that I've built my p4de from scratch with mm2 / 2650 I was seeing visions of that happening all over again when it would lose signal in the street. def happy with the 3pl and i will check out the fail safe option
