Stampede suspension arm guards on Slash 4x4

Hey everyone. I got in a set of front Stampede suspension arm guards for my Slash 4x4. As I understand it, I need to pop out the ball joint part on my sway bar and install the one included in the kit. My question is - how do I pop it out without doing damage? Just push / pull really hard?

Use pliers and push the ball out while pivoting a bit on the side.

i used an additional screw in mine taking up one of the empty slots for a little more reinforcement. did you get them for the rears too ? you'll need to dremel them down a bit to keep them from rubbing your chassis when the shocks are compressed.

great photos, you have a very ViperZ-esque way of photographing rc cars.

I think that's going to be my next mod since I run the Stampede front bumper.

I feel like someone told me the guards wouldn't fit on the rear. Any truth to this?

Thought I heard the same thing, but can be done with creative carving.
Guess I'll have to buy them and carve to fit.

They fit pretty easily. I just used a Dremel sanding drum and sanded from the hole for the sway bar to the inside edge and then sanded the point above the hole off. It took a min or two and works with no problem.

    Thank you.

The kits come with spacers now. You didnt have to do any modding to make them fit?

They do but when I bought mine they were not in, more over I removed the spacers once I got the sway bars in, the ball ends do the same effects.

If I were going to use the guards it would be in the rear. My front end doesn't get too much damage. My rear end collects all of the abuse from what the front tires throw at it.

That makes perfect sense. I was wondering why my rears were more banged up than the fronts. The fronts look almost new.

OK. Stopped at my LHS today after work and picked up the front and rear guards.

The fronts installed with no problems. Didn't need the spacers at all:

The rears needed to be modded a bit to fit without hitting:

In the pic, the left one is how I modded it to fit:

These are Traxxas TRA6732 (front) and TRA6733 (rear).

My truck started out as a Platinum. Basically the same as yours. It will fit, but you will have to modify the rear guards as shown in my pics.

If you only want the fronts (TRA6732), they will fit with no problems.

You were asking about the RPM shock shaft guards. These are the Traxxas suspension arm guards.

As for your other questions, go to my build thread HERE.

I found this too - they fit WITHOUT modification front and rear of the HCG but on the LCG the rears need modifying otherwise the suspension becomes effectively locked due to rubbing on the rear of the chassis. Fronts fit fine. I also agree - rears are far more important than the front and significantly reduce the amount of stuff that gets stuck around the rear driveshafts.
