    My favorite money pit

Well it's time to rebuild an give a little maintenance to my merv. This is the third look and setup for this truck. That's why the tittle is my favorite money pit. I love this little truck its to much fun to drive. It started life as a vxl summit then I converted it to a mini revo to run the track with. And now I'm going with a basher set up. I don't ever get to run the track anymore and the way it was set up that's all it did well. The list of parts of it so far are
    Rpm front a arms
    Rpm rear a arms
    Rpm front bumper
    Rpm rear bumper
    Gpm collars for the knuckles
    Gpm blue rockers
    Hr push rods
    Hr steering post
    Losi esc
    Gpm toe links
    Pro line trencher tires
    Traxxas steel cvd
    Traxxas steel center shafts
    Traxxas steering bearings
    Pro line ford raptor body
    Integy shock mounts
    Blue summit rims
    Diff shims
    26 tooth pinion gear

Is the esc taped to a metal plate so that you can mount it like the vxl? Someone was just asking about that a few weeks ago. Such a good idea.

I used double sided tape for car moldings and trim. It's like super glue once it sits for a few.

I got it painted. I used spaz stix candy blue backed with a light coat of silver and then finished off with the black backer. The hardest part was all the tapeing and trying to get a good picture. The light has to hit it just right to see it.

The esc works great. It seems to push the truck really well. I have been running it for a few months without any problems. Even with the trenchers on it. I thought I might have heat issues with the bigger rims and tires but so far so good. I would definitely recommend it. And it's pretty cheap on e bay.

It's 32 amp continuous current, 1-3s compatible, and the bec is 5volt 1amp. It's a little bigger than the stock esc but fits pretty well.

Why 32amps? The stock vxl-3m is 50a continuous.

    Thanks revo-kn-evil.

Illusionx I put the esc in when I blew my stock one. I used one off my buddies mini Losi and it worked great. So I bought one on eBay. They r almost 30 bucks cheaper. I plan on putting a sidewinder3 on here pretty soon.

well i put a little more money in to my merv. I have a bluebird 390 on its way. And I talked the wife into getting me the sidewinder 3 for my birthday next weekend. I think I'm just about done putting parts into this truck. Next is my big summit and I'll be happy for now.

My blue bird servo came in today. This thing is awesome, I wish I would have got one along time ago. And the color matches my body.

Here are some pics of the stock servo and the bluebird side by side. And a before and after of the tabs that need to be removed. Other than the tabs it's a perfect drop in.

The blue bird servo is awesome. Plenty of torque and speed in the steering now. I took it out for some bashing today and was very impressed with its performance. Also when it is installed you need to reverse the steering. Here are a couple pics of it on my jumps. I need to put a video up. This thing flys and handles great.

I ordered a heat sink for my motor. How much should I expect to see in a temp drop?

With just a passive heatsink, it will depend highly on how much airflow you get under your body. You can generaly expect 10-20 degrees F with "normal" airflow.

Btw. What's going on with your second "servo " I assume it's not really a servo in there?

Dacaur thanks for the info on the heat sink. We r in the high 90s low 100s right now so I needed something to help with the heat. The second servo is gutted out. I mounted my switch for the esc in it. I like the look of two servos just not the headache.

    Thank you ant12hony

Been driving the merv a lot. Great truck that has been running super smooth and solid. Here's a couple pics with its big summit brother.

Back to ordering parts. I've been driving this thing for awhile now, and it has been great. But it's time for some more upgrades, and fun. I ordered a few good parts
    Gpm steering assembly
Gpm body mounts front and rear
    Hot racing shock bodies
    Hot racing spring adjusters
    Hot racing servo horn
    Sidewinder 3
    Integy gear cover
Once I get some parts in I'll get some pics up.

Mail man came a little sooner than expected and dropped off a few parts. I got my hot racing shock bodies, spring adjusters, and servo arm. Everything went together smoothly and looks great. Only thing I noticed is that I need to change weight on my shock oil. It seems a little bouncy now.
