Fastest gearing that will fit ?

I have a 1/16 mustang vxl, 31/45 gearing, dual 3s battery. Tops out around 55mph

Its running remarkably cool, I am wondering what other gears will actually fit??

I believe the 45 spur is about all that can be done as far as spur gear is concerned.

So pinion...... I ma running 31 now...... how much bigger can I go before it starts to interefere with sometihng ?

32 will fit I don't remember if the 33 or 34 rubs the heat sink .but it doesn't take much to make it fit.

55mph with 31/45? Are you using larger wheels?

I am using 4tec wheels, pretty sure there about the same size. I am also using a gyro so I can actually get the thing up to max speed. 55 is the fastest I have got with fresh batteries, 52 seems to be alot more consistent. Runs real cool so I am gonna push the envelope abit more

Thats about what I need to know if the 33 rubs a little i assume the 34 may rub too much to compansate for....but if the 34 only rubs a little thats the one I want

Maybe I miss something but as far as I can see, 55mph with 31/45 does not only seem fast, but is simply impossible.

The problem there is you have 11.1v as the voltage, which is much lower than the motor will see from a pair if GOOD lipos, even under load. 55 mph is easily attainable with decent packs. 65 is doable with great packs.

yea the rally in all forms is no more.... you can still get the parts you need though.... sourcing the body will be the hardest (read, most expensive) part.

I'm not a regular on this side, but I have a merv that I bought used and the guy I got it from had the 35t pinion with it. I know it fits in the space but I have it set up to go slow with a 55t spur so I couldn't get it to fit together. The mesh screw wouldn't line up with the hole. Just wanted to offer up that a 35t will fit.

Even IF you would get 12.6V from your Lipos (which you don't), you would get to 53 mph. So either you are using larger tires, different gears, or your radar gun needs some serious calibration.

Many people think that they stay close to 12.6V with good Lipos, but the voltage drop is more than you expect. The reason that I use the nominal voltage, is that you can hold that in most circumstances.

Yikes I had thought this thread was on mini revo when i made that reply for some reason , which has a larger tire. You are right the rally won't hit this speeds on its smaller tires.

Is this a trick question? The vehichle has two battery boxes... you just put a battery in each box... then get a parallel cable.

No pics of that setup, that was quite a while ago that I was running the Tenbol mount. I've switched to the Traxxas mounts so I could keep a gear cover on them. On my Rally/Mustang I'm running an old Mamba Max/4600kv setup, and on my 1/16 E-Revo I'm running an SV2/5700kv 4 pole setup. They're both insanely fast on 2s and run cool no matter how many packs I put through them.

got it finished up last night-got tenbol mount and changed spur to 45T.
added my fuze 3900kv and 130a esc and running 28T pinion.
put in traxxas tsm receiver and switched out stock heat sink plate with strc one as it allows for more adjustability.

fresh 35wt shock oil in front.

    some updates:

finally found a pinion that will fit on tenbol mount. switching back to 43T spur helped and the biggest I can fit is 41T and it clears with about 1mm of clearance. 43t and 45T are too big...:bummer:

this was on 3s in parallel; lipos have been sitting around for about a week.

I think next upgrade will be a 4600kv or 5700kv
