No need for another brand. Practice throttle control, even more so when the diffs are locked. Speaking of which, unlock the diffs whenever possible.

I mostly leave it unlock because as of right now I ran on grass or pavement only.

New member new RC new summit ..

You broke a shaft with the diffs unlocked?

Metal shafts, but I don't endorse their use:

You need two pairs, so you're looking at $100.

YEs, I always leave unlock. I don't crawl this truck anytime. I broke right rear at the pin. so this works? I also see people replace all 4 with longer driveshaft. What do you think?

You should get one set of short ones and one set of long ones, so if you break another you can already have the part on-hand

Not in a Summit you don't. However, in a Revo that is common.

Didn`t mean to ruffle any feathers and I understand all the above.....just wanted to point out the owners manual says not to use LiPo packs exceeding 11.1V (3S). The way a stock Summit is wired thats 6S total. Sorry.

Have fun with that Summit jvinhj240! They`re awsome even with NiMH packs and DeWalt power.

Having a blast running Summit and E-revo. I also look into used E-maxx soon, then upgrade MXL-6 and Castle Monster 2200kv motor.

Yah, as above discussion 3s still brand new in box, one day I may decide to use with E-revo or something else but as of right it is NIB.

Don't replace complete shafts. They are sold all separately, so just replace what is broken or you are wasting money. Actually, if you do, keep the old ones for parts to repair other broken ones.

You can get the complete shafts off dollarhobbyz, and i think you probably got it there.

yup, alot cheaper just replace only the broken not whole piece. HOw you guys keep Summit at home. Stands or just leave it on the ground? I am looking for stand, some DIY PVC or Metal. Where to get them?

I keep all my RC on the ground. I don't know if it affects like suspension components.

I know it makes flat spots on my proline blockade, but not on other tires I have. I have to see if it does on the trenchers.

If you take the tires off of the truck and sit it on the ground or something that's the best way to store them. I set my road rage tires on a homemade tire stand , and they got lumps and flat spots in them, so store the tires with the rim facing up

A large coffee container (drum-size) or short section of a 6x6 wood post will serve to keep the tires off the floor.

Dude you must set the slipper to prevent breaking the driveshafts. Especially On grass you have very much traction that creates a lot of stress on the shafts.

Yes dude absolutely. It determines how "agressive" the power is transfered to the drive train and ALL tires. When it is set too tight you will most likely break rear drive shafts first.

To set the slipper you must place the truck on a high traction surface such as carpet and when full throttle is applied the slipper must slip for about 2 feet or more. You can hear a "screaming" noise when it slips.

So I decided to clean its really good, after cleaning , I air spray so it dry quickly. Adjust shocks, bearing, clutch slipper. I did not oil anything or lubricated . SO everything seem fine until I hook up battery. The car look like it turn on itself I can even adjust the steering without power up but cannot run ,I turn on then ran it now after turn off it wont turn back up unless I remove battery and reconnect again. Is it a short somewhere , it can't be right? Since it is waterproof.

Then after 1 hour. It start to working normal. Maybe water get inside EVX2?

Maybe you killed a servo with the water.

Now you have to unplug one servo after the other to check if one is damaged.

Without getting too expensive, bandito are best for grip, phaltlines are best for top speed (they don't really balloon till 80mph)

Summit on-road. Sounds to me like you have the wrong vehicle.

Thanks emaxx, I have bandito for e-revo, it is nice. I will get another set for summit then.

Sometime I like to switch them out and play on pavement with my other vehicles. This truck I know what meant for but still I want to drive it anywhere I can. Stock tires seem fine on pavement too, but I want to make it smooth ride on road.

Looks like your slipper went too hot because of being set too loose and melted the spur gear.

If you have paperwork saying the Summit works with 11.1v LiPos then it's a typo. Was this the instruction manual or the quick start guide that states 3s?

Your example is mostly correct jvinhj. The parallel setup combines the capacity of the batteries, so two 5,000mah packs become one 10,000mah but the C rating does not double.

Is that a misprint that should have read 2s?

If you find the wording on page 5 unclear, see page 16. The specs found in the sidebar there are abundantly clear.
