My new stampede 4x4

Hello everyone I'm new too this forum and thought I would share my r/c truck. Just bought a stampede Vxl 4x4 a month ago. This is my first r/c that hasn't been from Wal-mart, Geoffrey's, etc. I love it, it's a awesome truck and just thought I'd share it with everyone. Have only had it a month and have put a few upgrades on it. It has mip axles front and rear, traxxas caster blocks, steering blocks, along with rear axles carriers, rpm bumper, rpm shock towers, clear gear cover, xl-5 tires, integy heat sink with fan, esc fan, traxxas toe links, blue wheelie bar wheels, and proline 72 Chevy General Lee body. I also have been mainly running it on 3s lipo with occasionally running it on 2s lipo. No heat issues at all, motor has not been over 151, very satisfied with the stampede as a first r/c truck.

Also has bearing adapter, traxxas aluminum motor mount, along with the traxxas motor plate. Here is the picture when I first brought it home.

Yea I got tired of it popping off every 5 min, so I drilled holes and screwed it. Has not come apart anymore, seen someone on another thread do it.

Looks very good. Have you tried the 17 tooth pinion with the 3s yet? Good top end speed increase going from 2s to 3s?

I have tried the 17t just too do a speed run. This truck is awesome on 3s I was impressed with it, ended up burning my slipper clutch up though, somehow the slipper nut came loose while running it causing it too burn up. Rebuilt the clutch and put the stock pinion back in it, didn't want too leave it high geared, afraid my temps would be very high if I went off road bashing with the 17t.

I ran it today on stock gearing for almost 2 hours straight in 95 degree weather on 2s and 3s, and motor temp never went over 151, esc was 128.

Has anyone tried running the new 4 pole velineon on a high gear ratio off road?

Thanks, yea I ended having too ziptie it. The screws came out after I cartwheeled it about 20 feet haha. That's what I was thinking that it would run hot with that high of a gear off-road which is why I put the stock 11T back in it after the speed run.

mine are glued AND zip tied. tough to keep them fastened being they seem to touch down every time the truck cartwheels.

The BEST way to fix the wheelie bar is to take it off and toss it in the parts bin and install a slash 4x4 rear bumper instead and it is easy to mount your wheels to it. As an added benefit it helps prevent a lot of rear body damage.

T-Bone and RPM are nice but the slash bumper is the way to go for sure.

Thanks for the tip, I believe I will go that route. That bumper also looks better than the stock wheelie bar as well in my opinion.

Took your advice, just installed the slash rear bumper today, had too drill holes for the wheelie wheels, other than that easy install and looks great.

Looks good, an added benefit of the slash bumper is your P4DE will be more stable while doing wheelies and it also makes a nice carry handle.

It does make a nice carrying handle, thanks for the tip, no more zip tied wheelie bars too deal with.

Thanks I like it a lot myself, was lucky too even find a general lee painted body, couldn't pass it up. I've got my ball python and two corn snakes as well. Yep, southern born and raised!!

Yea, I have 3 for pets. I got the body off of eBay, was the only one on there that was painted like that, so I bought it as soon as I seen it. Yea I like it too, my southern heritage truck lol

Thanks man, yes I really like these trenchers they grip a lot better than the stock talons. Had the stock xl-5 tires on it as well, but ruined one of my rim hexes from being in a hurry, so upgraded too these. Not really a big fan on black wheels, I'd rather have chrome but these are starting too grow on me lol

Where did you glue them at?

sorry for the delay on this. i glued it on the inside of the hooks that you use to change the height of the wheelie bar. has held up ok but still have had them break loose on big crashes.

No problem, I ended going with a slash bumper. Took the stock wheelie bar off.

It's pretty awesome, loads of torque and stays cool as well. Took it out though and have a 2650kv with mamba monster x on the way.

So swapped out the stock slash bumper for a slash rpm bumper with wheelie bar, this looks way better than the stock slash bumper imo. Also installed rpm a arms front and rear.
