Suggestions for on board video camera with sound.

I'd like to make an HD video and include on board footage. I don't want something as large or expensive as a GoPro.
I see miniature cameras online for under $30.
Does anyone have experience with them or have a recommendation?

I have seen this one used and has awesome quality. I know it shows out of stock you may have to search for one. My friend carries them in his shop.

I just bought a "ultra pro x" GoPro knock off on eBay. They sort by number and I got "cam 8" which is not the latest one. $69.95 to my door and I must say I am impressed. Good video quality and compatible with all the GoPro mounts. Wide angle lens etc. IMHO a good option from the few hundred for a GoPro. Only real complaint is the microphone isn't the greatest thing ever. Does good within a few feet but doesn't seem to do as well far away. Just as another option

Not trying to hijack your thread but this looks quite interesting.
Do you just put a memory chip in the thing or what JerrysMaxx?
I'm old but think the cord is for downloading to your computer.

I want to keep the price down in case I trash it.
I'd like to do a split screen showing the on-board and camcorder view of the same run.
I have other ideas that I'd like to experiment with.
