    Wing for backslash

Hey everyone, I just received my JConcepts Illuzion Hi-Flow Clear Body RC8E in today with plans of converting to a backslash. I have a rear RPM shock tower and need some guidance in selecting a wing for it. Are there standalone kits I can buy or do I have to hack and slash (no pun intended) it together, pulling parts from other kits, etc? Any advice or direction would be appreciated.

Also with the RC8E body, how should I go about mounting it to the Slash? Do they make custom body mounts or will I need to fab something up on my own?

This is my first custom body ever and while it's a bit daunting, I'm excited to see how it turns out. Thanks!

I am using a HPI buggy wing, used teh lower part of teh diff case and shock tower rear mount to screw it in and also a small bracket for the upper part. (unfortunately i di not take any pics ...will try tonight) I find my wing a bit lower then I would want it to so I will make another mod to raise it up.

Unfortunately I do not have the RC8 body, so not sure if a mod is required to have the body mount on.

This is how I mounted my wing for my backslash. Used existing holes that were already there. The other option is to make two plates to run screws through the shock tower and squeeze it with the two plates.

All I did to mount my body was cut up the side bars a little and bought some "industrial" velcro at Walmart for like $3. Has taken some nasty crashes and hasn't budged yet.

Yea I liked the coloring. But I wouldn't recommend it lol it doesn't really like fitting. I have to remold the sides slightly to fit better. I used a mugen MBX6 wing mount by the way. I had one of those buggies and thing was tough as nails. So I had faith in the wing mount

It seems that most wing mounts work with minor fab work. Many use HPI Hellfire mount or Mugen as K Money does.

Fortunately, I picked up the STRC e-Buggy kit before they stopped making it. I hope they make it again.

I used the wing mount and the rear body mount that came with the STRC kit. I don't remember what body posts I used, I just walked around my LHS and picked up what I thought would work. I think they were a kit by HPI that came with a bunch of mounts.

Pics are of my old system, but the mounts are still the same.

I just looked around and found the HPI body post kit I purchased:

If you look at the picture, I used the offset posts and the sleeves next to them. I just cut them to the lengths I needed.

I installed 3 body posts and left part of the need bars because the body is wider then the chassis. I have my 93rd box up front and just put double sided taped velcro to,hold the front on. Don't really need it but it keeps the body from rubbing up there.

What my friend did with his is he mounted it on the back of the body mounts and cut the top of the mounts off and repositioned them to fit the buggy body. But still, one hot backslash youve got there!

I cut a section off a black 2" diameter PVC (ABS?) pipe I got from Home Depot!

Sorry... no close-up pics, but I just drilled 2 holes in the angle I wanted and screwed it into the top of the shock tower.

You can see the screws on the right side of this pic:
