RPM Landing gear & prop guards

Any one tried these new goodies from RPM? They come in blue & black so far.

I'm going to try the landing gears when I get my alias running again.
This will TOTALLY work, saw a guy on YouTube do it

    Hello

I'm very interested in RPM landing gear, but for now, I can't find a store to buy it with shipment for France?

Bought them last Monday, but won't get them shortly, I'll report back as soon as I can.

Ordered the blue landing gear from Tower Sunday night and installed them this morning. A bit of a pain to put on but I got it on the 2nd time. Gotta take off the led lenses and they screw into the end of the lens. It was a little tricky for me (geezer) holding on to a curved part to start the screws. Fun and done. You'll see. They are a little flexible so landing should be softer. I can't drive the alias so my grandson will be home soon for a test flight. I'll let you know what he thinks. EDIT: Well it's pretty windy today so it was a short flight but it seemed to do really well. The landing is softer and it looks like it sits a little less than an inch taller. I'm already thinking about maybe shrink tubing the landing gear or maybe just an inch or so where it would sit on the ground. For $8.69 and practically overnight... Yeah.

Sounds like a great idea. I would like to see them sell packs of 2 or a set of 2 black and 2 blue to help with directional purposes. It's pretty hard to see the direction of this fun quad at high heights.

Got the RPM landing gear on today. Here are a few pics. My only complaint is that they are fastened by small screws down thru the LED lens (different size wrench) and although there is room between the screw heads/w washers and the motor wires, I think a small plastic washer here would be a good idea. Repeated hard landings might cause a short in the motor wires - MAYBE. For now I just put a small piece of thin mounting tape on the screw heads to be sure. I like the look and very little added weight.

I was doing consecutive flips the other day and I didn't start out with enough altitude. By the third flip, it was only about 10 ft off the ground but I went for it anyway. Ended up kind of pogo-ing off the ground with one corner which cracked the clear lens where the landing gear was mounted. No big deal - I really like the landing gear addition.

Does the weight of the landing gear and prop guards effect the flight at all.

Any added weight effects them but I don't honestly see a big difference with just the landing gear.

Do you thing if I put on the prop guards and landing gear that it would decrease performance by a lot?

Probably not any more than the camera - it's all payload.

Do you really have to take the lenses off to put the landing gear on?

No, no. You take them off to put a screw down thru the arm (where the rubber bumpers are) The landing gear attaches to the screw and the lens covers go back on. Did you look at the pics at the beginning of this thread?

Has anyone tried the RPM prop guards on an Aton? I'm wondering if they fit okay and how well they worked on it...

Others reported they used them for a bit but removed them. Not a popular add-on.

I use the RPM prop guards and love em. I fly my Alias only indoors and it saves the walls.
