    IllusionX's E-Revo

Alright just showing off my E-Revo. It's a brushed E-Revo converted to brushless.

    The day I got it..

And its early Christmas here.. I've got tons of parts for both my ERBE and MERV.

    Very nice, I would have gotten the duratrax screws, after having had lots of rcscrewz stripping on me;

Are you going to eventually dye the chassis.

Yeah, I didn't know about the rcscrewz, cuz my cousin runs the same on his summit.

Everything is going to be moved to a new chassis, and I'm debating if I should dye it.

Sweet. Truck is looking nice!!! Tires tapped and all that good stuff? I'm new to this side of the hobby, but brush less seems to be the optimal method for power. Which is awesome because that what I happened to get the first go around luckily.

What all sizes do you have? Or is that 2 broad of a question.

Welcome to the hobby as well,

In fact duratrax has ready set of stailess screws for the slash 4x4, I had so many spares and luckily traxxas uses almost the same screws in all their tracks so with the extras I put in my erevo, measured them out according to the exploded views and then used it on my erevo.

I got mine off the lhs , so I can imagine you could buy the ones specificaly as a set for the erevo.

ST screws are not really recommended as they are weaker, I do no think I will be doing other in st screws for a while

Oh, I haven't driven those Road Rage tires really. They are way out of balance, and I have no idea what the previous owner did to them. Supposed to be very new.

For now, I am driving on trencher X.

Since I got so many new parts. I started stripping the old chassis.
    Before..

    Stripping..

Chassis out, and these drive shafts has to go.

Traxxas constant velocity. I also did not install the new bulk heads. Figured I would when I replaced the diffs.

    Reassembled. Look at this beauty.

    Completed with all stainless screws.

I have no complaints with the rcscrewz, except for the 2mm hex, which are made a tiny bit larger than traxxas screws, so it's super easy to strip a hex or the hex tool. But I don't think any of the screws would snap. Next I would have to replace all the 10mm and longer 2mm hex screes by better quality.

I'll update again when I install the GPM steel drive shafts.

Edit: just commenting on my suspension setup, and honestly, I don't think I would buy used again. Ever.

The front shocks seems to be variable damping. I guess I'm going to have to shop for new shocks.

Question, should I use the integy servo guard or the original traxxas? The integy part doesn't fit 100%, I have to trim a bit of the chassis to install.

There is also a funny crack on the middle skid plate. Part is ordered, so I will replace that...

The tock guards are very strong, untill now I havenot changed them at all.

I avoid integy all togther, save on a high torque servo and buy strc single servo arm.

I would would like to try the strc carriers one day though its not neccessary, as for skid plates and servo guard, I preffer the ones from strc, they are under slayer parts...thos are practically the same except for the arms.

Yeah, I just installed the original ones. But the integy front and rear skid plates are super strong. They were already on the car when I bought it.

I also installed the GPM drive shafts, I'm not sure I like them.

Found a beautiful place to bash. They are building a road there.... Please of ore the lake, it was raining the whole week last week and today. Water accumulated there.

But then, my truck didn't last me 5mins. The motor seems to have loosen up and stripped the spur gear. And then clutch pads also cracked. They are new! Not even broken in.

Should I get a new motor mount? The hole seems to have worn down..

While I have this torn down, might as well look at the transmission bearings. I noticed some strange noise when spinning it by hand. They are dirty indeed.

This truck is a money pit, and I'm starting to regret getting this used.

Alright, received my parts today. But I'm having a tiny issue.

    Brand new motor mount.

    Heavy duty clutch...

    Installed.. So beautiful!

Here is the issue... The cover is rubbing!!

The spur gear seems really close to the motor...

Yes. It will not be a problem. This area on the E Revo is pretty close fitting.

But if I put on this cover, it is rubbing. Should I just let it rub? It will eventually fit right? Lol

Yeah, but they are building there already. I'm not sure if we can go there anymore. Perhaps at the BMX track.

SMS me if you want to bash. Only problem now I have 2 lipo only. I sold all my gens ace with the stampede lol.

I am waiting for 2 more packs to arrive, but seems to take forever.

Oh, and I got the new gears so I can rebuild the rear diff. Though, I also did not receive the shims to shim the diff....

So, after a crisis.. I sold off most of my RC and quit Traxxas.

I came back with a MERV and wanted something big I can bash AND race at the same time. I was about to get an Arrma Talion or something.. maybe an RC8.3Te, and this came up I couldn't pass.

For 200$ CAD I got this roller. So here is the official ERBE X2.0

This is going on a surgery for a complete clean up and verification before being built!

    So the surgery has begun...

It has a brand new bulkhead

First, inspect the diff and change the oil.
The ring and pinion gear is pretty nice. Uh oh! The bearing is chipped. Cheap fix.. new bearing.

The E-Revo being originally brushed, the dff doesn't have the I beam. I'll definitely add it next time I rebuild the diff. It much oil left either.

    That's it for the night.

I did more work last night. Pretty clean overall. But I have the diffs without the I beam in the middle. Anyways, some pictures for the show..

    Stripped

Cleaned the chassis and put the transmission back in

Same as my previous one, the fins are gone to make place for the battery leads to come out.

Lazy to rebuild the old shocked, I installed this pair of Revo shocks I had previously rebuilt a long time ago. I kept them when I sold my old one because I thought silver looked better haha

    Center shaft in

It was getting late, so I stopped here. I am also waiting for my parts to come in!

This is somewhat another money pit. LOL

Cracked shock holder and rear body mount. So, these parts are ordered and also ordered the rear chassis brace while I'm at it. I must be at around 600$CAD spent now.

Is that center diff in the new brushless models? Or an upgraded one?

Every E-Revo comes with a locked center. This is the optional part to add a center diff.

Wow really, I didn't know. I got a brushless revo and thought I remember reading in the manual about there being something about 200k or something in the center diff. Thanks for the info I'm going to have to look into that, here I'm thinking I have a center diff. I'm still a newbie on the revo got it a few months ago and haven't been out much because winters been keeping me indoors.

So I'm still missing the pivot ball boots to finish my install.

T-Maxx brake disc as slipper pad

I think it looks better than alu pads here.

I think the previous owner had a pretty bad crash. No wonder the new bulkhead that was installed. No I'm not bending this back.

I still have a brand new one from my previous build.

I had to buy another one like this. When you realize you need 2 packs to complete the truck. LOL

Well, at last, my ERBE is done!! Just missing the ESC and motor, then I can go on and adjust the camber and toe.
