    Diff Oil Weight

I have a Stampede XL-5 upgraded to the 3500 VXL system. I was wondering what a good oil weight would be. I hate how one wheel spins like craze when it gets off the ground. Thanks

    Welcome to the Traxxas Forum!

I have 50,000 wt in both my two cousins' XL-5 and VXL. Both trucks run very good with that though the VXL is still in "Training Mode" for the younger one and I also thinking of trying 40 or 45k wt since it wheelies easier than the Xl-5 with the extra power.

What kind of terrain do you usually drive your P2de on?

The 2wd diffs are not sealed diffs so the oil will just spin right out. Most use a wheel bearing grease or similar. The thicker the less spin you will have.

Both cousins of my have driven their trucks over quite a lot of surface (except snow). JerryMaxx is right about the fluid leaking out for the 2wd diff. The thinner the fluid is the easily it will leak out. This can be solved by getting a sealed diff like FLM and Hot Racing.

However what he suggested, it will be cheaper just to get wheel bearing grease rather than spending on a sealed diff. Never tried it myself as I usually redo the transmission for my cousins' P2des every year, but I may will try it as well as it does make the tranny messy when diff fluid is leaked out.
