    1600kv motor

I'm trying to find specs on the motor and I don't know where to look. Now I realize that no one has any hands on experience with this motor, but I'm wondering how 4S would be capable of providing enough power/amps for this motor. I know it's 6S capable, but like the 2200kv CC motor in my opinion 4S is the sweet spot. I just don't see how a low kv motor like the this 1600kv could be powered by 4S.

I know a whole paragraph saying the same thing....

That's what I thought. But I thought I saw 4S could be used. So the lower kv motor is used to have more torque to help with a bigger/heavier RC?

Yup. Lower kv = more torque.

But sure it can be used on 4s too. It will just spin slower. I can also run my castle 2400kv on 2s but I prefer 4s

That 1600kv motor is pretty big by the way.

Pardon me, those were the ESC specs. I wonder how big the servo is? But I noticed it wouldn't work in other models because it's not the 4 screw style servo.

I like 3S for the 2400kv Funny Car motor.

I wonder if it's a re-branded Castle motor. If it is great, if it isn't great.

No neither the esc nor the motor are rebranded castle. Velineon are traxxas products

I'm not upset that it's Velineon. I think for an in house rtr BL system the Velineon was great in the 2wd vehicles. I just think it was asked to do too much in the 4wd trucks. Ran smoothly enough and power was fine.

But it would be so nice to have the adjustability of Castle Link!

Too much in the 4wd trucks? Really??? Lol! I guess I must have been extremely lucky then. I've had three Velineon powered LCG Slash 4wd and I have nothing but good things to say about the system... Never let me down once and had all the power I could need. But there will be some good and some bad when it comes to anything. When I saw the Velineon system in the X-Maxx I too was not upset at all. I personally think it will rock. Come on December! Lol!

Mine never missed a beat in my 4wd slash either (although it wouldn't even try to wheelie like my castle 3800 in the same truck) but there are faaaaar too many stories of cooked vxl motors or ESCs to pretend it wasn't a problem.

I would run 6s or 8s if you can, with the esc.

Ahhhh! I joined in May of this year so that's why I'm unaware of the cooked vxl motors / ESC stories... Makes sense. Well... I'll just pray for my good luck to continue I guess lol!

Well, I'd bet you have the newer 4 pole then. It has been better than the two pole. More torque and runs cooler.

Would this motor be a good candidate to swap into the XO-1?

I would skip the 1717 motor and swap in a new castle 2028 and new esc.

You can't use this motor in other vehicles due to its proprietary mounting holes.

The 2028 in an XO-1 is ridiculous, but if that's what you want then have at it.

I suspect that running this truck on 6s with this motor will be like running your E-revo on 4s. You'd need 8s to get the same level of craziness you get on 6s in an E-revo.

Confirmed from Traxxas themselves, even though the tech notes seem to indicate only 6s....

............The X-MAXX will run fine on 4s, but obviously faster on 6s. Both power setups are compatible with the X-MAXX............

I don't think the ESC would like 8S, the specs says 6S max.

it is not 6s only, it is recommended to use, and up to 6s max, but you can run 2,3,4,5,6s if you want.

I think with 6s you will have a very controlable truck, and it will be a lot of fun. I see a lot of castle 5th scale systems going in here.
