Yep, I'll drop the hammer on this when Kershaw Designs have their motor mount in stock. Till then, I will be doing other things to my Xmaxx. So far, I've redid my Xmitter to hold my iPod, mod-ed my body to keep it from cracking, and balanced my tires using Emaxx parts (I have pictures of all). Next, I want to redo my battery trays to allow for any batteries to be used, make a wheelie wheel setup, and upgrade my motor/ESC.

Do any of the KD motor mounts allow for use of a similar to stock sized motor of a different make?

It seems like KD's plate will fit a few different motors but I may be wrong, I already pre-orderd mine so I make sure I get in on the first batch of mounts and not miss out.he said the orders are filling up fast

what did he recommend pinion/spur wise, and are you planning to run 6s or 8s? I was thinking of doing the 2028/xlx but wanted to be able to run 6s and was wondering what gearing he recommended. I shot him an email a few days ago but haven't heard back yet.

Stock spur with 47t pinion, I bought 43t also. I'm running 8s, honestly I don't know if I'll even run my 2028 until some one makes a billet or machined steel ring and pinion set. I junked a set with the stock motor very quickly, I can only I gain go fast it will break with 4 more H.P

    What's his phone number?

Just click on the "PayPal - add item to cart" button.
Thanks, I understand and ordered a 35 pinion and his mounts.

What did he recommend pinion/spur wise.
I have an email into him too asking the same question. My question to him is: what Leopard motor does he suggest, and what gearing does he suggest for that Leopard motor, and the Castle 2028 motor.

Mr. Viper's using a 46 spur and a 35 pinion. It looks like I'll be going with a Castle system due to me liking Castle stuff, plus I can get a new 2028/XL-X set for $350.

    He is using a 40t pinion, not a 35.

I'm still curious about using a 1717 some day after buying a roller.

Now, but in his videos he PM'd me and said he was running a 35.

I talked to Castle about that very same question. He said it wasn't as strong as the Xmaxx's stock motor, and he very much didn't recommend it.

    ViperX-Maxx (8S) build

I'm an idiot!!! Everything has been at 35T. If you look at my earlier post, I didn't even have a 40T!

I say "didn't" because I have up to 55T now.

Cool, I can't wait. Vip, let me ask you this. If I get the Castle 2028/XL-x system, and run 6s, will my Traxxas 6400mah 25c (3s)batteries be good. I don't really want to have to go out and get new batteries just to run my Xmaxx on 6s.

You'll be OK with those batteries. Good thing about the XL2/XLX is you can look at the data logs to see how everything is performing.

I still want to try it if I can snag an affordable roller some time. With data logging, telemetry, and temp gun I could tell if it was up to snuff before anything was harmed.

I don't think it's true. I've had regular talks with Dan and he just recently placed the order for production parts.

Well, I've had my first tragedy with the truck... no, the gear are still surprisingly intact.

If you look closely, it was actually the knuckle that broke, not the arms!

but not before having a blast and getting this thing really dirty! I think I should get one of those outerwear covers.

Nothing too extreme, just having some fun during lunch.
Sorry for the crappy camera work. Trying to film and drive at the same time is tough. None of my co-workers wanted to brave the cold.

It does get up to a pretty good speed, I can tell you have your punch control turned up pretty good it defiantly rolls on the power lol I turned mine up to 100% today just to test it out and while it does limit the initial wheelie it's still will wheelie up after it gets out about 25' or so, atleast it seams easier on the diffs
Sucks about the hub, don't take much to break off stuff when it's 20 out. Drove mine for a whole pack with a little jumping and light abuse and only managed to break a bumper post, so not to bad for a XMAXX ride haha. Atleast I can put it away in one piece for a while since this killer blizzard is just about here

Hey Vip, do you think you could do a similar video, but rather than using 8s you do it with 6s?

Luckily, I missed the front loader.

Anyone have experience with the Castke Quick Connect adapter? I went to download the data from the XL2 and it wouldn't connect. This is the 2nd adapter to die on me. I'm going to buy an extension cable next time instead.

It's the single version of the DUO. I have the XL2 which doesn't have the AUX connector.

I decided on the Kershaw mounts, the Castle XL-X ESC, the Leopard 5892 (1400kv) motor, 6s battery setup, and a 54T spur/26T pinion.

Good to hear. I'll be interested on your impression of the Leopard motor.

I'm also updating to an XLX, so I have an XL2 for sale!! Got the XLX for a great price, couldn't resist.

Has anyone heard from Dan at kershaw lately? Curious what the status is on the mounts? Sent him an email on Wednesday and haven't heard back from him.
