I sent him a note last night so I'll let you know what I hear. Dan is typically very good about responding quickly.

In the meantime, I've been working on re-enforcing my body.

As much as I have been talking up my ESC switch to the monster x, I read your post and then swiftly ordered the mount and pinion from Kershaw, and the 2028/xlx combo from tower. I can't wait.

Excellent, another converter I'm actually very interested on your opinion of the difference. Most people are saying they don't see a large difference, but for me that's hard to judge if you haven't seen both setups in person.

These are from a fellow member, but he can't sell them here. There are 2 Facebook X-Maxx groups, you can order them from there.

are you saying the difference between the stock motor/esc and 2028/xlx? the difference has to be crazy.

Vip, I talked to Dan the other day, and I'm going with the Kershaw mounts, Castle XL-X ESC, Leopard 5892 motor, and a 54/26 gearing setup. Not quite your setup, but NBViper inspired just the same.

Can I ask you guys something ? I have been building slash 4x4s and stampedes and now want to build an x-Maxx ! I will go with castle like I always do ! My question is , are the diffs in the x-Maxx built the same as the difference in the slash and pede? Or are they built like the diffs in the e-revo ??

If you look at the marketing pictures of the X-Maxx, you'll see the comparison between its diffs and those of the e-revo.

Looks more similar to slash, but it's its own design. Wolfslash says no shimming necessary, and he's not even sure that it's possible.

Thank you for the info ? Are the diffs as reliable as the slash diffs ?

    Shoot. I read rebuildable. DOH!

Not sure. I don't think that call can be made yet. Time will tell! They seem well built, but there is a lot of truck here putting a lot through them.

OK thanx , I owned a revo for about a total of a week or 2 because it drove me crazy breaking diffs constantly. I nearly never have a problem with the diffs in my slashes or my stampedes so they are my favorites. Was hoping the x Maxx was similar !

Well I couldn't resist. I ordered the Leopard BL5 thinking I will run that until the maxx speed bores me. Then said the heck with it and ordered the Leopard 5892 and his mount. Though I am gonna see what kind of standing back flips it will do, for giggles I ordered a 15T Pinion, also have a 29 and 37t coming as well.

Though I dont have any 4s batteries so I have 2 from SPC coming to the house.

Think I am going to find a roller to put the VLX6 and motor in. Would like to find a 1/10 or 1/16 to put it in.

    ViperX-Maxx (8S) build

I run 6500mAh 65C 4S packs from SPC, they barely fit!!!
    http://spcracingbatteries.com/index....&product_id=88

Note: You have to turn them on there side if anyone gets them. I'll probably modify the battery trays to make them fit better.

I'm suppose to be getting my stuff tomorrow too, but I still have other things I want to correct/mod before I take my Xmaxx out for its' first non-testing bash session.

I run 6500mAh 65C 4S packs from SPC, they barely fit!!!
Vipe, I did a battery mod to my Xmaxx the other day that lets me do just about anything I could ever want to do with regards to batteries. I was planning on posting some "How to" pictures soon.

Yeah, mines is scheduled for delivery tomorrow also. My 2028/XLX eagerly awaits. I also have the 49t pinion installed on Dan's recommendation.

Glad to know they fit as I ordered a pair already.
Filled the diffs with some 60k I had laying around. Looks like Traxxas didn't bother to add any fluid as my diffs were all but bone dry.

I'm having a hard time tightening the motor screws, it wouldn't be a issue with the stock spur but with the 46 you can't move the spur far enough to get into there

Can't you snug it,pop the mount back out with the motor in, lock down the motor screws and install the mount as one assembled unit? Then fine tune it with the side to side adjustment on the bottom?i have my mount but no motor yet to use it so I could be way off lol

Now you guys are really making me jealous!!! I agree with yoshgixxer or you can cut down a hex key to make a stubby version to squeeze in there. Contact Dan, is there nothing in the instructions?

Question: What are you guys running for battery connectors? I feel like the Traxxas ones are very undersized. Any experience with the Castle 6.5mm bullets?

So with the 2028, what is the top speed on 6s? And what gearing?

I tried the castle 6.5 for my Xmaxx and I really like them. Not hard to solder and just pop them in the housing. Plus you can adjust the tension of how tight or loose they fit together on the male side.
