I have some trenchers on my rustler vxl, but I make candy canes out of axels and strip gears? Any suggestions?

Geared properly and with a system that can take the heat issues and tame them I think the Trenchers are fine but brushed or the VXL models heat will continue to plaque you.

Get the slash 4x4 rear drive shafts (6852x), much stronger than the stock ones. And loosen your slipper a little. Will help with the gears
    Bashes well with others

Make sure you have all metal gears, slash 4X4 driveshafts, and turn your slipper 1/6 - 1/8 of a turn back. If you have done all that, just don't mash the throttle and you won't have a problem.
