    My P4de

Did the body mod to strengthen it.
Make one thing stronger and you expose the next weak spot lol.Tore through one, snapped one off.
Also messed around with wording on the side.

Ha, ha! That's excactly how it goes. Strenghten one part and the next appears...

Time to lower the body using the Rustler metal battery posts (#3727). JConcepts has some (expensive) metal posts too (#2083).
In additon, Pro-line has adjustable body posts for the P4de, #6265-00 (with thumb nuts instead of clips).

Thanks for the info. I've been debating on doing the mod but, I have two things stopping me.

    1. I change batteries from sliding them out under the side of body there. I don't remove the whole body. Lowering would require significant body bending to continue changing batteries.
    2. I have the Castle link programing plug and the on/off switch on the side there. I actually trimmed the side of the body higher for easy access to both of those.

I do like the idea of using the metal battery hold down post as body mount posts though. Hmmm what to do...

Yeah, I noticed the Castle system and the trimmed body side.
What if you get the JConcepts metal posts, and use the stock plastic extensions as standoff spacers with a long screw. Then you'll have the best of both worlds...

Its actually 5pcs all held together by two screws in bottom of oil pan. Cut small hole for belt and pulley to go through with exacto knife. Drilled 2 smaller holes for screws to go through that hold it all together. Then just took off the oil pan, placed it under the hood and sandwiched the body in between oil pan and motor and screwed back together. From the first side view picture you can see oil pan under the hood. I got it from Ridemakerz as an accessory to another rc car I have. I think the motor was like $12 but came with side pipes and wheelie bar. I might try to mount the matching side pipes to my truck as well.

Cool deal, should paint the butterflies red, could drill 4 holes on the top of each head and glue wires and run them towards the back, then would look like a hemi.

That would be sick! I will try that! This is the test body to try ideas on. I will perfect cosmetics on my shelf queen body when I decide what I want and get one. Any other ideas are appreciated! Coworker suggested connecting a rod to intake and somehow making butterfly's open and close. I thought hooking up steering somehow so sitting still you could show them opening and closing. Any thoughts?

Thanks. I thought it turned out pretty good. I also put in a 18t pinion gear and this thing is stupidly wicked sick fast! I'm pretty sure I'm getting a temp gun tomorrow so I'll know ESC and motor temps for sure but, I touched motor after speed runs and bashing and couldn't even feel warmth off the motor. The batteries however were putting off significant heat!

Daughter got a P4de for Christmas. Here's both of our trucks. Couldnt find Traxxas new line of pink bodies anywhere! Even online Traxxas said out of stock so I painted one myself. Turned out so good!

I think I may have created a monster though, she already made the statement, "My truck is not as fast as yours".
Then she asked, "How much was your brushless motor?" Then informed me she had $50. Lol! She hadn't even ran a full pack through it and wants to upgrade! It took me several week or maybe 75 battery packs being run through it before I thought about upgrading lol.

Haha, never! She can try but the time I put in before work, during lunch and the terrain I drive on, she'll have to put in some serious driving time to get as good as me(well us actually) at flipping it on its lid in total wipeouts! Lol

Speed run with 18t pinion.https://youtu.be/lksdY9vnyfs What you didn't see on this run was truck clipping curb and going in to a barrel roll & summersault end over end at least 20+ times over a 25' distance! Ouch!

Speed run #2 https://youtu.be/0RgXKmEurgo Battery was starting to go didn't get as fast but still fast enough.

I have the LED's installed but have a short inside receiver box with my castle link y splitter cable so I have cut and solder and rewire some things.... I'll post vid or pics when back up and running.

Thanks! I tried the Tamiya smoke tint paint for the windows to try and retain some realistic look but it looked so horrible! I wiped it before it dried and just blacked them out. If someone else uses it and gets good results please post pics and a how to. I couldn't get it to look right! Waiting on my motor to get here too. Once I put plug wires on and paint butterfly valve I'll mount it and be done with my shelf queen!

With new gearing and my Supr speed I'm estimating 7-8' height with me new ramp. But.......

Its a lot harder on parts lol! The camber link isn't just broke, its completely gone! But hey my driveshafts didn't break! Those are usually the first to go when parts start breaking. Gotta love the new upgraded MIP drives....

    Very hard on parts:
Carrying inside I gave it throttle on accident. Front end kinda sounded different than normal but didn't think twice about it. Got it inside and took previous pic. While there I figured I'd do a quick diff maintenance and just check things out when I pulled diff apart I noticed this on ring gear.
    2 teeth are gone :-(

I've had too replace my front and back ring gear, think it was because of me self righting it instead of walking over there to get it like I should.

I think its from the new drives, before it would snap a drive but now load is going in to hears in diff. Is there a stronger ring gear than that stock one?

Not sure if there is or not. I have the Vxl ring gears, they seem too hold up well, the ones I messed up were from me self righting it.

Did you update transmitter or just trying self righting manually?

When I pulled rear apart to service diff the bottom screw that goes in to diff housing was barely hanging on wheelie bracket and the blue metal a-arm pin retainer was gone. The pins were half way backed out too. There was one jump when it came down the wheelie bar bracket behind bumper stuck straight in to yard with windshield facing the sky. It fell forward and took a divot out of the yard the perfect shape of the bracket! I bet that landing may have been the one lol.

Here is my finished Raptor body w/LED light kit(vid in LED light thread), and blown V-8 engine w/sparkplug wires.

And yes! That is road rash in a couple of spots. I took it out one time, trying to be really careful, as Murphys law would have it..... I had had a little oopsy moment lol. Got front racing stripe, spot on roof and rear fender. Oh well...

Here's a look under the hood:

Shhhhh don't tell wife I had it on her precious couch she would not be happy and I'd be lol!

Picture of my Castle quick connect mounted to the top of the on/off switch which is mounted to ESC hold down.

I put new wheels and tires on it and replaced steering blocks on it. Back to trying to figure out tracking issue. After sensors get here, prob telemetry expander with GPS. Then spur and pinion combos for speed. Going out to test to see if tracking is any better right now. Wish me luck lol.
